Can you get trapped inside an infested mine?
I have been working on clearing my first infested mine in the Mistlands. It's very big, so it's been a few trips so far and I've only just now gone down one of those spiral stairs to the lower level.
While going down, some seekers came up to fight me and in the process destroyed some of the stairs. Not a bad thing, I got some black marble....but it has me concerned, if all of the stairs get destroyed, how do i get back up?

Sounds amazing. All the dungeons I've been to were... well, they were actually alright, all things considered. I've been to some frost caves which felt like as large as the smaller mines.
So, I gotta ask, how many time did you die? :P

As of just now I have finished clearing that first mine, and I did not get any more cores, so 18 was the final total from it.
I also was perplexed because there were new seekers in rooms I had already cleared when I went in. I thought dungeons didn't respawn.
Turns out I had only a single room left unexplored since the last visit, but the total number of seekers I found on this return trip was significantly more than would have fit in the room, and they spread throughout the mine in already-cleared areas.
Respawns in a mine are a new thing. It goes along with respawning royal jelly. I don't think it happens instantly, but probably did it since it took you awhile to return.

Just once. To a 1 star seeker warrior. It was such a cramped space, at the bottom of one of those stairway shafts, and with uneven floors. I couldn't hit him. My attacks kept hitting the walls and support columns tight around him, even the spear didn't work, probably because of the height difference from uneven floor.
It was an isolated room too, no where to lure him to, and the opening to go up the stairs was too small for him to fly through. On the bright side, that means I was able to easily retrieve my corpse from right in front of him, without being open for him to reach me.
I ended up having to kamikaze jump down the shaft, rather than use the stairs, to land on his back in order to kill him. LOL

You cant get trapped in an infested mine, but I believe it IS possible to get trapped in the basement of the occupied dverger towers (not the unoccupied ones with mines in the basement) if the stairs get destroyed and you dont have a portal kit with you or enough wood for a workbench and a ladder on you. You can get some wood from the support beams in the walls down there but I'm not sure if its enough for a workbench and ladder.
Yeah. So be careful deconstructing the one with basements and make sure you can build an exit stairway, a portal, or have a pickaxe on you.

I got 18 of those dark cores out of it already

The most I've gotten Is 14 in one run. But these kinds of numbers are insanely rare and to hit 18 on your first mines is a world first 🥇😂.

The stairs which link different floors should be indestructible. I only paid attention to that fact once but noticed that it wasn't actually possible to damage them thoroughly. Might not apply to every type of stairs.
By the way, this is a bit off-topic, but I remember (or I looked it up to make sure, at any rate) when you asked in another thread about progression between swamp and mountains... Good job making it to the mists, feels like that happened in a flash lol.

Nevermind....I have noticed it is the railing being destroyed and the stairs themselves are intact so I'm pretty sure the answer to my question is "No, the devs are smarter than that."

It did go pretty fast. Though I played a TON of hours. I cleared like...15 fuling villages across 4 different islands of plains, and 5 different mountains before that. In real time days, it was fast though. :)

It would be interesting if that sort of thing could happen though, but there'd obviously need to be some kind of secret escape tunnel out of the entrapment.

It would be kinda cool, but as it was I was terrified of being stuck in there even when I just 'thought' the stairs could be destroyed. I'm still wearing all plains-tier gear, and the mistlands is kind of terrifying. Those seeker warriors are no joke (have not died to one yet but the 1-star one I ran into was no joke).
On the up side, this infested mines has been great. I got 18 of those dark cores out of it already and I haven't even explored the whole thing yet. Stopping to use my pickaxe on the two stairs where I was, to get more marble. I didn't want to kill dvergr so I didn't have any of that yet.

To be fair, it's a really really big infested mine. I've been in and out 4 or 5 times over the last 3 (real life) days. I looked at the wiki page for black cores this morning and it says an infested mine can have anywhere from 16 to 96 rooms. I seem to have found one that's on the high end.
