Major Dedicated Server Issues
We've bought a server host so that we could host a crossplay and a Steam exclusive server, but taking -crossplay out of the servers launch arguments makes it so that the Steam server doesn't connect to anything. Playfab seems to be the default and the only thing that kind of works, the server won't communicate with Steam at all it seems after you remove -crossplay from the server launcher arguments. My friend and I both tried to get it working on different setups. No dice. As for the crossplay server, it lags and desyncs so bad that you can only stay connected for seconds to minutes at a time - IF you can log in. Again, set up on both of our devices, properly, with different internet, ports forwarded.
I'm not asking how to fix it, because I know we've tried literally everything. I'm just informing people that dedicated server hosting for this game is currently so broken that you can't use it. Crossplay kind of works for a while but then it ♥♥♥♥♥ the bed really badly.
Having a Steam exclusive server prevents Xbox players from joining, preventing horrible, horrible desync, but it seems like Steam exclusive dedicated just isn't an option currently.
Not a happy camper.

I have a couple of non-crossplay servers running without issue.
I run under docker using this image: https://hub.docker.com/r/lloesche/valheim-server
which makes it very easy to install. The only thing you have to do, other than running the commands they specify is to punch the right holes in your firewall (server, if it is running a firewall, and router firewall, of course).
I have no way of testing crossplay, so I have no idea how that works.
