No it's not HP it's "Stamina". Less Stamina the more of the shield damage will increase which will break the guard of that shield. Though I use regular shields and not tower shields. It should be Stamina depends on how much you have before the shield is broke of guarding.

HP has nothing to do with that and only helps the player's characters get far in doses of unguard damage by later enemies depends on what food the player uses.

I mean, if you have no stamina left you can't block/parry, obviously. It's already been like that even before H&H so I thought that was kind of a no-brainer.

Max HP does play a part in blocking/parrying now, after H&H. I suggest you first read the reddit post that I linked -- there's literally a formula there to calculate the minimum HP you need against a mob for your block/parry to be successful. If you don't have enough max HP, your block/parry will fail and you'll get staggered + the attack will go through.

People be right about just poking them as they come in. Parry got ruined and even dodge is garbage, imo.

Better to go with a big stick and just cut everything down mindlessly. Why pay the stamina+HP costs to defend when you can just take the hit and be basically better off. Even better you can just poke it all to death cause it knocks them back too. Think about how fast you can kill and that HP+stamina cost compared to dodge, parrying, attacking and that HP+stamina cost (you probably had to let stamina recover).

I like what they did for tower shields, i guess. Giving bad.. i mean amazing people that underscored in real life reflex stats the ability to play frontline (dammit, almost got banned for being "mean" or "insensitive" (maybe racist too).

Pretty sure they'll remove the resists so ppl can just archer everything from a distance.

Much safer to block first, really that has to be a no-brainer, Why would you even say no reason?

If you don't see them coming from a distance, they can be the difference between surviving and not on the Plains.

Block/parry-n-swing gets the job done with no damage at all.

I wish the stagger mechanics were a little less binary in effect. As it stands you can spreadsheet all the enemies in order of how many HP you need for shields to function against them at all.

0.625 * damage * damage / block armor < max health

so i have 64 block armor on big iron shield

deathsquito deal 90 damage

0,625 * 90 * 90 / 64 = 79,101

so i need at least 80 max hp to succesfully block deathsquito
