Sap is too easy to farm

I think that currently sap is too easy to farm for its crazy amount of value. It would be great if it was unportable :)

I play on a server with some friends and we ended up with two roots next to each other looking like pin cushions.

It depends how often you visit them, but seems like 3-4 extractors is the max in terms of production.

You're not using enough! ;)

You need to light up your life with torches and lamps.

You can burn through some resin if you try,
and find it suddenly in short supply.

As soon as electricity came to Valheim (i.e., wisp torches, the single best feature from the Mistlands upgrade) I replaced the majority of the lighting in all my bases with wisp torches. I still keep a few sconces, braziers, and pumpkins around for ambiance, but I no longer have to pile up mountains of resin and greydwarf eyes to keep my places lit!

The new lighting is cool, but has not replaced all my resin fueled torches. The resin stuff casts unique light both in color and range, just like the new torches. Each one has its own aesthetic function and use. Over using any one type of item tends to diminish its "effect", but that's a topic that can be widely debated and comes down to the user's preferences.

Less tends to be more tho. I like to use the wisp torches as a kind of accent lighting over something functional. They do not cast much ambient light very far. But they do emit a pleasant humming sound.

I thought you meant resin for a second and were still in bronze age and using fire arrows:steamhappy:

Sap requires 2 materials that can't be teleported so I think it's fine as it is + the sap resource can at times be limited and take extra time for acquiring more when the magical energy is to a level for more extraction of said sap.

For single player I had like 3 set up on the edge of a plains, black forest and mistland that I just ran to from my base every now and then. Multiplayer would be harder to get the resource needed to sustain food / item progression for the whole party.

Yea same. Like 3 extractors on what I believe are to be 2 roots with one folding over the other. One thing that I am happy about Mistlands is that you don't have a new introduced metal that you need to spend a lot of time mining or collecting like in other biomes.

The added copper / iron deposits you can find are nice if you need them at that point in which case I think I only took like a stack of iron and copper while running back with extractors in my explorations. My longboat was full of the required metals for upgrades + excess amount of Iron with some of the other metals just in case. Portals are super useful for Mistlands.

I feel like it's in a good place. I have 4 extractors set up super close to my mistlands bases/portal spots. I had to be on top of it, but I always had enough for all of my crafting and food needs without it feeling like honey. I like it being portable also, I never actually had to boat any resources back from mistlands which are far away. I set up a small away base there and only boated back some iron and older materials I collected when I had a lot of them built up. I'm a fan of the boating system too, I like the relaxing voyages here and there.

You can make it unportable by not taking it through portals.
