Can someone please explain taming?
I've had 2 boars for probably a week in game, one is at 48% another at 27%. I got 2 more boars like 2 in game days ago, one is already tamed and the other hasn't even begun to tame. What the hell is happening?

basically how taming works: get them into enclosure, throw out food, leave them alone, don't build any fires nearby - ever - or at least until after they are tame.
oh, and also; enemy presence will agitate them too, so make sure to make walls, workbenches and other de-spawning buildables to prevent enemies from spawning in the middle of your pig pen.
If torches affect them then that may be my problem atm
Yes. Torches (any fire source, really) within about 6 meters will put them in aggro, which pauses taming until they can calm down.

I had this same problem until I removed the campfire, which was close by the pen. It makes sense they are afraid of fire, they don't want to become bacon too soon.

You need to feed them, and stay nearby. The do not progress at taming if you leave them alone.
So throw them a bunch of raspberries, and sit down nearby at a place where they can't see you. And then IRL brew yourself a nice cup of tea and wait, while the weather and time goes by.
