This is true. You can run out of the event circle in this case if you want since it can happen anywhere in the mountains or plains and not just at one of your bases. No risk losing buildings unless you are at a plains or mountain base. Logging out doesn't clear the zone, and if you leave the zone the timer stops - so this could indeed happen every time they log on, if they haven't cleared it yet (by running out the clock in zone).

on...wtf?Do I need to be "hunted" everytime I log
"You are being hunted" is a raid/event which can occur inside or outside of a base. As with all raids/events it can only be terminated when the raid/event timer runs down to zero. The timer only counts down when the player is within the red raid/event radius displayed on the mini-map.
Logging off will not stop the raid/event. Thus a player will still be "hunted" every time he or she logs on until the raid/event timer counts down whether the player needs it or not.
In the case of WarEeyore, I am guessing that he or she was killed by wolves before the raid/event timer ran down and that the raid/event radius encompasses the last bed WarEeyore built and claimed. Thus every time he or she is re-spawned or logs off and logs back on, WarEeyore's viking is located within the raid/event radius.
WarEeyore is caught in a death loop. Said death loop will only end when the few seconds he or she lives between re-spawning and dying finally aggregate to more than the raid/event timer.
I try to avoid such a death loop by only claiming a bed in my most heavily defended base. Since sleeping in a bed offers no benefit other than passing time quickly, I avoid doing so except in the most favorable circumstances.
If I simply must pass the time quickly by sleeping, claiming the bed will be the last thing I do before going to sleep. Dismantling or destroying the bed will be the first thing I do upon awakening.
To be strictly accurate, there is another way to end a specific raid/event that does not involve the timer running out. A player can only suffer one specific raid/event at a time.
If "You are being hunted" and the player leaves the raid/event radius, the timer will never run down but it a second "You are being hunted" is triggered, the first will end either immediately or when the second raid/event timer runs down. That has happened to me.

I have twice, in all my hours of playing, had 2 raids happen within minutes of logging in. I always try to log out at night in my house so I can sleep when I log in and get the rested buff. I have read you shouldn't get raids upon logging in but maybe it was so close when the logout happened that it just happens. Either way I welcome the free drops when its done. Just a note I have not been to Mistlands yet nor in any map or playthrough killed Yag.

If its every time you log on something is wrong. Events have a 20% chance of occurring every 46 minutes and you can only have the "you are being hunted" event when you are in the mountains or the plains.
