Somehow in my personal experience only the workbench prevents enemies from spawning around the base. No other structure provided me with that effect ever, which is a shame that I have to spam the workbenches all around instead of relying on each structure. Go figure.

Except that it works to prevent them from spawning "most" of the time. I have over 1,000 game days in each of those worlds with each of those bases and the deer spawn inside only on very rare occasions. There are spawn points for deer outside the radius of both those bases and they spawn every 3 game days.

i think it's intentional. They're two of the critters in Valheim that won't attack you. Rabbits, fish, chickens and Leviathans are the others...so far.

Oddly enough fish can damage your boat. If a fish is directly under your boat when it jumps it hits the boat and does 10 points of damage.

Does your base have complete workbench coverage, such there is not a single inch inside your moat or walls that says No Workbench? 99% of the time, that takes care of it. Occasionally glitches still happen, but it's far more likely that you missed a spot. (Although you can replace the workbench with something else on the no spawn list after you have made sure you have full coverage.)

Another way to keep greydwarves and greylings out of your way is to dig a hole and shove them in it. They don't respawn if they don't die. (As long as it's a day spawn, not a night spawn.) I have a couple pet greylings that live in my moat. I've gone down there and used them to level up my block skill.

i put wolfs out so they help defend.
