Holy ♥♥♥♥ autosaves
Im no programmer and i do understand that it might be difficult to fix the issue in the current stage of the game but i feel like the autosaves have genuinely gotten way worse. Game can freeze up to a minute and often kicks my friends outta the server. It happens so many times and weve died to so many unfair ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because of the autosaves messing us over. Whats even worse than its even crashed my Steam too which is insane. Cant they just make it so the game saves when you go to sleep? Again im no programmer and dont have much knowledge of it but its an unbearable issue that has become worse with the mistlands update and if it remains with the final version imo thats a major issue.

I'm having the same issue and I think the saves are getting longer and longer. The 30-second warning is not helpful if you are at Mistlands and trying to dodge two enemies at the same time.... maybe a 10-second counter could be better. Also when we are sailing the save will throw my friend out of the boat.

Also when we are sailing the save will throw my friend out of the boat.This is interesting. I would expect this desynchronization to occur in case of a reload (when your friend's position in the world was saved just before yours and your boat's), but not as a result of a mere save. In waiting for devs to solve this issue, a conservative behaviour would be to stand as still as possible during a save then.

sounds like networking. My game saves in just a couple of seconds on a solo/local server and it has many bases, lots of terrain edits, been chopping up this world for a very long time now. My world file is 700MB, not something you write instantly, and note that it writes it twice (or deletes one? it may just delete the oldest, rename them all, and add the new one).

I'd say that there are last save, previous save, and session start save. I'd advise to keep on manually saving both world and character, though. It is easy to overwrite a save when playing with the new management options (or load an ancient character into a newest world).

The difference might be due to having limited space on a drive, and it can also be an HDD vs SSD issue. So if you're hosting the game, maybe check the task manager to see how crazy your disk activity gets. If it is peaking out during the saves, then the drive is probably your issue.

Wait until you crash because of auto safe while you are trying to recover your corpse. All your items might be gone and if you build something in the past few mins that might be gone too including the resources.
that did happen to me and my buds yesterday

I'm on day 813 on our server and I personally have not had a freeze like you have described. Is it a certain time of the day? Morning? when it says world save in 30 seconds? Is that when it freezes. Sounds terrible. You guys hosting own or buy a server?

Hm...That does not sound good.
I can not give you an answer to that, but i tell you this.
My save is a few sec. And thats after 3000 h.
I do not think you can blame the game for this problem.
