No issues here on my 6800xt, I do have my fan speed set to go to 100% at 70C, so I normally top out at 70 with 72C peaks, but not much higher, My current case I have to keep the side panel off to keep everything cool, my 6800xt is so big it just creates a pocket of hot air at the bottom of my case and not much I can do to get it out with the glass side panel on.

Since I obtained the game in February of this year, my pc specs have been as such. Core i5 3570k at stock clock, GTX 980 4GB, 16 GB old ram, 7200 RPM HDD. When I installed it, I've had the resolution at 2560x1440 (native monitor resolution, fps is capped by the monitor at 60fps) most settings maxed, I've had about half the buttoned options off with no frame limit, and have had no graphical issues or GPU problems.

With the latest update, I've only gone to the new seed, zero building done. I heard a fan spin way the hell up, and opened MSI Afterburner. At 2560x1440 the GPU temp pegged on open, and anytime the game was rendering. The automatic fan curve pegged at 98%. But watching the fan RPM, 98% fan setting is roughly 4k RPM. And then every 30 to 45 seconds, for about 5 seconds the fan would spike to 6.5k RPM. I updated the nVidia drivers, same issue. Turned all the button options off, problem remained. Lowered the sliders to medium and then low, the problem remained. Dropped the resolution to 1980x1440, temp seemed to drop a little. Lowerd to 1980X1080 and the fan speed automatically dropped to 74 % and the temps dropped from 93 to 81 C or so.

I play other, older titles at 2560x1440 and in World of Warships average 72-76 fps with settings maxed. Haven't heard the fan wind up like this on any other game. Currently running GeForce Game Ready Driver Version 512.15 released on 3/22/2022.
Is the framerate still capped at 60 FPS?

1070 here. I can run Witcher 3 at high at 50 degrees C all day.
This lower graphics game has it at 62 in no time even with everything off.
WTH?

simple answer: "clean it" (and all the rest of your computer, make it dustfree).... no more no less.

games don't overheat your gpu, only dusty coolers.

The only fix is to limit your FPS with nvidia control panel, or lower you resolution and have a more generous frame cap. Certainly don't let the game run at as many frames at it likes, or it'll 100% your GPU easily. The quality settings to little to affect performance.

The game is a bit of a GPU resource-hog at the moment. I run a GTX 1070 as well.

I'm playing at 1280x720 and using the app "Lossless Scaling" to integer scale the game up to 2560x1440 (my native res). Looks clean, lets me play at 60fps without using tons of my GPU, and works well with the games already pixelated style.

Try it without the game ready driver... that is not entirely stable. I would avoid that in future.

If your nvidia gpu hits above 90c, it needs some TLC probably, you may even need to asses airflow options in your pc case, have thermal paste re-applied to your gpu (if its out of warranty and cleaning the dust doesnt work) etc.

Below that, that's just the game using what it can of your card. I think the game has some kind of adaptive draw distance personally. I notice stuff all difference moving the 'draw distance' slider and would explain why it's always smashing everyones gpu's.

Vsync, FPS limit, maybe further settings within geforce softwares.

I have power color RX 580 8 GB OC, it's working fine honestly. depending on how long you had your GPU, you might be do for a good clearing of the dust or even a repaste (yes that's a thing, the old paste can get pretty crusty) Also depending on your GPU, you might want to look it up on google or in specific forums if possible to see if there are any known issues and fixes.

Check your fan curve to see if the fans are tuning to a high enough RPM as well.

I'm running:
GTX 1660s (PhysX set to auto)
Ryzen 7 3700x
32GB Gskill
Framerate limited to 70
3440x1440, All settings High, no blur, no LOD.

Temp never exceeds 74c.
Maybe a ventilation issue? Fan control issues? I use MSI Afterburner for fans.
