Obviously anything can be smashed. That's not the point. You know it when your ward is smashed. If you play with a group of 5 or 6 you'll always have that slacker that just randomly picks stuff from others chests, or puts his nose where it doesn't belong. That same person, is not, however, going to destroy anything and will be deterred by a simple ward. It's a safeguard for privacy.

In my playthrough we all had our own little spaces sealed with wards. Not because of inherent suspicion, but just to ensure a sense of privacy

The only purpose for Wards against other players is to keep them from opening doors and chests that you want to keep private. So you could use them to lock the door to your farming area, but the other player could still just brute-force their way in.

Other than that, they only serve to reduce damage to structures from attacks and provide a type of alert for when said attacks are happening.

you could bury a ward beneath your foundations which would make it kinda hard to smash but yes if someone is determined and has enough time they can smash your wards
