The first time I went into the forest and encountered mud, I lost a boot in there, lesson learn. It literally suck your boots off....

Swamp has been kicking my ass also. Just gotta adapt and overcome. Take a break and come back, but don't start a new game. It won't take long to get back and recover corpses.

First thing to do is find surface resources. Stuff you can just pick up off the ground without much trouble. Chop some trees, grab some seeds, pick off some isolated mobs. This can hopefully help you reach from black forest power into swamp power.

Don't feel too bad about having trouble. Swampin' ain't easy.

Make sure you use Poison buffs, if needed use the Cold buff too.
Use Fire Arrows to kill the Abomination, the Bow and Arrow has always been op in this game, also do not chop tree's down around the Abominations spawn point.

Also, if there's a surtling spawn nearby, just lure it to the spawn and shield-block it while its standing in the fire and watch it roast to death. No need to try to parry, just permanent block. :)

The swamp is rough, however I from my own experience you can kill the abomination with fire arrows. Lure out of the swamp if possible. It is also clunky enough that you can weave between trees to avoid it.

Fire arrows are not the best way to kill it but it works.

When you get the chance pave paths through the swamp. And make poison resistance mead.

Beaten by an abomination because the game trapped you in a hole? Sounds like you didn't pay attention to your surroundings in terms of terrain or enemies. Yeah, the swamp is brutal for the unaware or unprepared, but if you learn from your mistakes it'll get easy quickly.

Avoid the water and watch your footing. Use poison resistance mead until you get your hands on a root mask from the abominations. You need a bronze axe to chop fine wood for weapons, furniture and boats, and it doubles as a good early weapon against Abominations when paired with a bronze buckler. Fire arrows also work and are safe but slow. Take your time in the swamp slowly, avoid fighting groups unless you can safely pick them off one at a time and know when to run away.

Swamps are awesome , last time an abomination killed me was because it spawned in the shallows of a narrow path I was sailing, fun times

When it comes to safe navigation through the swamps once you've started a fight pay close attention to the vegetation. Reeds in the water only grow in areas where you can jump, walk and sprint. So when you find yourself in a situation where you need to run away keep that in mind.

Though you probably already know this, certain creatures can do significant environment damage with their attacks and can be particularly dangerous because they can mess with the terrain as you fight them. Trolls and Abominations can be particularly troublesome for this reason if you don't play close attention to your surroundings. Try to avoid fighting them in shallow areas because if they hit a shallow water area it's going to quickly become deep and require swimming. It can be incredibly difficult to escape an enemy who can traverse deep water while the player is swimming.

love the swamps, really makes you think about what you are doing.

Take responsibility and learn from it. Watch your step, and use a hoe to flatten the ground while the abomination is still spawning, or even during the fight, or make the decision to run.

If you just say "couldn't win 'cause cheap game", then it's going to happen again. And again, and again, and again.

in the swamps first thing i do is dash for first crypt.dont even bother fighting that thing in bronze.once you have iron gear upgraded swamps are just as easy as the bf/meadows,crypt and turnip seeds.little cheese tip you can hoe the ground and get rid of ponds so makes swamp travel easier

If there is a biome next to the swamp that's a safe enough distance away, try building a small base with a portal to your main base there. That way you have a place to rest so you can regain your buffs, be safe from monsters, and if it gets too much to handle you can run through the portal and wait out the danger at you r main base.

Bronze gear is fine. Bring enough wood for a workbench, see the abomination spawn, run to the nearest crypt and build the workbench at the rear of the crypt, hop onto that workbench and then onto the roof of the crypt. Pull out your axe, and prepare for battle--one sided, because Mr Angry Tree can't hit you there, but you can hit him.
