Mistlands First impression
I'll keep it simple and straight to the point.
-Resources are hard to get:
I like this. There are many items in the game that we just toss, because they are so abundant. Not Mistland items.
The terrain is brutal:
Our group never had to "settle the area" We agreed to do this here. Lead to us building lights, roads, bridges. etc. Also. It's made eikthyr buff relevant again. Combat on slopes is a challenge, and could do with a look at.
All in all. It's stunning biome, and the items/loot are inspired and interesting without being OP. 9/10

It's like it was any other biome.
What I startet playing, I hated the blackwood forest (or however it's called in English now),
After that I hated the swamps and then the plaines (looking at you, deathskito)...
But after getting more XP and proper gear I got used to any those biom and none of these is an issue any more.
Same is going to happen with mistlands.
I like them so far.
it's hard to find a proper place for base building, I only which there would be more interaction whith the Dvergers. I like them.
Maybe with the upcoming quest-update? please?

I think I am at about 8/10 now. There are several great things and a couple of very frustrating ones.
I too wonder what you think is rare? Cores and tissue and SB shards are RNG. All those are a few and done though. Everything else is fairly plentiful. Not enough mines.

Cores are scary. We exhausted a medium biome and got 8 cores. We are in the last biome that we know of, and if we don't get enough. We'll have to just sail and hope.
Marble is in high demand. I think if you play solo, you'll be pretty good on this. But bigger groups/builds makes it percious. We don't throw any.
Tissue wasn't an issue. I suppose eventually you get it all. I don't doubt we will. But it has been more of a note worthy hunt than any other resource. Maybe not "rare" exactly.

I wouldn't give it a 9/10.. it's really nice to see but the fog even with all you can have to reduce it starts to annoy my team... for example yesterday we spent around 30 minutes just to find a dungeon as they are really hard to find with this fog but we didn't find any black core inside so, disappointed, we stopped playing
I like the idea of the fog but we would really appreciate an enhanced version of the wisp torch

That sums up everything quite nicely.

its great but aside soft tissue i dont get your comment about resources beeing rare at all.
first off the mistlands is THE BEST SPOT in the game for farming stone. there is giant rocks everywhere you can mine out. freaking everywhere.
if you bring a stone cutter with you on your travels black marble and dvergr loot is easy to come by aswell. dvergr bases sooner or later get destroyed unless there is a massive amount of dvergrs in them. once they do plunder them and use the stone cutter to break the marble down and teleport it home to work with it.
the fog is annoying and i havent found a way to deal with it yet (AND I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW HOW so please no spoilers if there is a method. discovering things on your own is a huge part of the fun for me). but there is huge mistfree areas aswell. and alot of loot to discover if youre brave and just venture in the mist blindly and just listen to the sounds of enemies and makeing sure you can run into a mistfree spot for combat.
once you make the feather cape mistlands changes massively as its a great help for getting around quickly.
if i had to discribe the mistlands with 1 sentence that doesnt contain "mist or cannot see ♥♥♥♥" i would use this :
"skill increased to 87 : JUMP"
the jumplands.
each dvergr place or ruin you find just means MOAR black marble to build with. and all you need to bring is a stone cutter. it never felt so worth it to carry 2 iron ingots around. and all the chopperscrap just goes straight to the boat. can make cool windows with it now.
when i found my first the queen spawn (havent fought her yet) it had a giant marble stair in front of it. same as some infested mines and towers have. now there is no star anymore and i have over 1000 marble lying in my homebase. just because i brought 2 iron and 20 wood with me. the 4 stone can be found EVERYWHERE. no need to bring it.
this is a far faster method than mineing out these petrified bones i found. breaking the strucutres with your hammer and the cutter is 10 times faster. the bones are still bonuses tough.
the giant skills seem really rare so far. or unlucky rng no clue. 1 was inside dvergr dig site which got blimped to death and the other had both ravens spawn telling me about the jotun and it was in the middle of nowhere fog valley.
avoid melee on soliders if you have the option. especially star ones. they hit like cruise ships and thier forward head poke attack has an insane hitbox. thankfully they are super slow aswell.
infested mines are the best dungeons so far. really creepy and good design. but if youre lucky you can find up to 5-7 black cores in just 1 mine. then you can already make the cape.
sap is stupid easy to come once you get a collector going. soft issue is the bottleneck material initially.
and you can teleport ALL of the new materials aside the sap collector tool. but bringing that thing away from mistlands is kinda useless to begin with.
HIDE YOUR BOAT. the blimp can ruin a boat faster than any other enemy in the game. i often leave my longship a fair bit offshore and sail in with just a carve i keep stored in the bigger boats storage. this has keept the longship safe in most cases. take the blimps out if you spot em near your boat. use frost arrows with bow. slowy em down so that by the time they get in attack range they are like half dead already.

:-) Refreshing to read this amongst all the hate that Mistlands has been getting. Exactly my sentiment.
I just wish they did not nerf them bugs quite as much as they did. Perhaps they will still fine tune it a bit. Never ceases to amaze and disappoint me how a fuling will sometimes run up to you and as you prepare to parry its attack, it will just turn around and run a circle around you.
They nerfed the Mistlands bugs to behave somewhat similarly.

Yeah I don't mind Mistlands either, keeps me on my toes for sure. I only wish I could farm the new mushrooms in the plains too. I just need more Mines to spawn, I need them cores badly. I went to the trouble of sailing over some tame wolves & a Lox to help with the landing party and a small area carved out for myself but need to keep searching new areas.
Overall enjoying it so far.

I tend to use the world generator[valheim-map.world] to get an overall sense of the PoI density before using a seed in the game. This convinces me before the game that my inability to find a mine or dvergr fort is due to my bad exploration skills and not bad RNG.
