Krom and Arbalest in Iron Age
I think it is technically possible to go to Mistland before completing Mountains and Plains, gather the materials for Black Forge and make those two weapons very early in the game, right?
I guess it could make your playthrough very different from the previous.

I can imagine that with a bag full of spare bows and fire arrows you could clear a mine. Getting 5 cores RNG factor may doom the attempt but it seems possible. Seems like more work than its worth, but possible. Getting into the mine alone, with the entry guarded, is going to be a pretty epic dodge and run. Could be a case for a tower shield?

I think the wisplight is absolutely not necessary for Mistlands. I've already tried to play without killing Yagluth getting most of the Mistland crafting items including magic staves. It's definitely possible, but not only is it going to suck massive amounts of ass to go into the mistlands without the wisplight, as ineffectual as it ends up being, it's still better than blind, fighting through an infested mines with Iron Tier weapons is wildly inadvisable.
Feather cloak was definitely one of the first obvious choices as it makes travelling in Mistlands so much more comfortable.

Yep, the way I see it, the problem lies not in that it would be exceedingly impractical or dangerous, but in that there's considerably less benefit in skipping majority of the game, Forsaken powers and various materials (like wolf pelts or tar for comfort furniture) included, just to get head start on some mistlands things.
You'd also need to explore many more burial chambers or the like to be able to afford megingjörd if you were to skip crypts and entire biomes.

Galdr table requires black metal which in turn requires defeating the Moder, so the cape's not available early unless you're somehow going to fell Moder in similar manner (using mead or campfires to stay warm, IDK lol), in which case I wouldn't really call the entire process of being completed "early". Better to just play the game normally haha.

You can get ice and poison arrows very early in the game by just harvesting some obsidian with Frost protection potions. Those arrows deal a lot of damage to Seekers. for the tc :
you can also get skoll and hati and the carapace spear this way. the rest of the stuff is hardgated by eitr tough and eitr is hardgated by black metal which boils down again to MUST KILL MODOR no matter what.
a seeker solider can break the iron armors and the trees for you. this allows you to skip the swamp biome entirely. getting black marble is actually pretty easy. just wait for an attack on a dvergr tower thats fully manned with dwarfs. youll get marble without fighting yourself if there is fire mage around the tower.
the cape is sadly fully off limits without moder.
there is already a video about this on youtube.
you dont need to be in iron age. you could get this before even fighting the first boss.
but these 4 items is all you can make. the spear is the best spear in the game tough.

Carapace Spear is a good point, thank you!
As for Skoll and Hati they require black metal so unfortunately hardgated by MUST KILL MODOR again.

the way to do this is sail around the mistlands until you find a dungeon ( with the steps) on the shore and hope it has 5 cores.
You can also go up in the mountains and see down into the mistlands mostly mist free to find a dungeon but its more challenging.

Depending on world seed, you don't even need a ship to reach mistlands.
One could also find an appropriately positioned ruined "aqueduct" or whatever, and have a gjall bring it down for free iron ingots. I'm not sure if any enemy can break down the scrap armor and swords though.
As far as I can see, the only relevant "skip" you can make in progression is if you can make do without wisps, because not killing Yagluth will keep the free black metal rolling in and not replace that with insect food delivery. With thorough exploration of the world, you could easily find several dungeons and other mistlands sites without the need of wisplight.
Despite the example above, I don't think it's feasible to think about acquiring iron from mistlands unless you literally have not found a single crypt and are able to reach mistlands accidentally on foot. All the other bosses except Elder and Yagluth provide very useful Forsaken powers which shouldn't be skipped for any reason. So that only really leaves Yagluth as an outlier of sorts... Maybe Certainly in future biomes there'll be more use for his power.

You need the blackmetal pickaxe to obtain Black Marble, but you can use a Soldier to smash some, or a stonecutter to demolish an existing structure.
It's definitely possible, but not only is it going to suck massive amounts of ass to go into the mistlands without the wisplight, as ineffectual as it ends up being, it's still better than blind, fighting through an infested mines with Iron Tier weapons is wildly inadvisable.
If you are even able to accomplish the feat, you would have rendered it pointless anyway. With such skill as would be required, you certainly wouldn't need to trouble yourself with any of the mistlands tech.

Yes, you can indeed do mistlands pretty much as soon as you can make a karve. Dangerous as all get-out, but possible, and you'd probably need to build and use a block trainer beforehand which requires going swamping and sailing for enough iron and serpent scales for a stonecutter and lvl 1 serpent scale shield. Then you "just" need to sail around in your karve till you can find at least 5 cores-worth of dungeons outside of the mist, if you can and at least one dverger-occupied base. Technically for just krom and the arbalest you dont strictly need the dverger base but since you're already in the area anyway and will likely find several before you find a dungeon...

I recommend doing it with Silver tier since not only do you get the silver armor but also draugr fang with frost arrows and frostner which allows you to slow down enemies. It's just that silver tier armor with bone mass could give you enough protection against most mistlands enemies that trouble you otherwise.
Also while added you could make oozebombs which is very handy against most weaker mistlands enemies.
