All the .old files are the ones you want.

Replace all the <filename>.<extension> files with <filename>.<extension>.old.

Make a back-up of everything just in case things go south.

Go to your save folder and find the .old files. Those are the backup files the games makes. If your lucky, your world is still in one of those (unless they have also been overwritten).

My solution was to manually make copies and backups specifically to avoid this

Tried looking for old saves. cant find any save files at all.

under known issues they say the save are stored here yet this directory does not exist on my machine. C:\Users\ <username \AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim This makes no sense

Make sure that your hidden folders are visible. Search for this in control panel. Then you should see the folders. The folder definitely exists. I've been backing it up manually for the entire duration of my playthrough.

Also, probably a super dumb suggestion but did you replace <username> with your actual username on your machine?

ok i found the files. how do i know which is the right one?

Data base file, .db.old, .fwl, or .fwl.old?
