Dwarves have almost stopped dropping eyes?
This is weird. I had a large stock of Frost Glands, partly from a Drake raid, and several stacks of Greydwarf Eyes. I was ready to turn out a supply of Eye Scream, when >all< the Eyes vanished from my chests and inventory.
Thinking I had miscounted, I went out to hunt dwarves. Of a couple of dozen dwarves, 2 dropped Eyes. This would be like birds not dropping feathers--In 3 playthroughs, I've never seen a dwarf that didn't drop an Eye when it poofed. Even stranger, in some cases I could see the Eye drop, but it vanished when it hit the ground.
It's going to sound like I'm imagining this, but it literally started when I tried to accumulate materials for Eye Scream. Are the devs getting bored or something?

According to the wiki its a 50% chance for 1 eye for a no star grey dwarf of any kind (except the brute its a 50% chance for either none or 2). I did a quick black forest night run and came back with 31 rocks, 31 wood, 31 resin, 20 eyes, 2 ancient seeds, 2 dandelions, 3 bukeperries, and no trophies. ??? GreyDwalves 100% drop rate eyes, never seen less modded or unmodded.
I never really paid attention before I always just stored what I needed and obliterated the rest. It might have been changed with Mistlands.

hmm yea and I never noticed the necks before, but I tried out a ballista and it took out a boatload of them but no tails. I don't want the things, just noticed it.

Can't confirm less eyes dropped, but I wondered this in my last game too, a few days ago. I felt eyes weren't dropped as much. Now this topic. Perhaps the drop chance has been adjusted?
edit: I'm using public beta patch, if there's one now... no mods

The Necks haven't always dropped tails as long as I remember. The dwarves suddenly not dropping eyes is new to me.

Unfortunately, I've cleared all the nearby spawners.

Finally found another spawner, got a couple of stacks of eyes. Even then, at night, the drop rate seems to be about 50%. Maybe I just never noticed before.

I assume you're hunting them at night in the black forest? Day dwarves dont drop eyes usually.
Just find a spawner and camp it to get the eyes you need.

I am seeing some oddities in my unmodded game. Necks don't drop tails for me much anymore, is one. I don't know about eyes, I toss 50 at a time to odin and try not to pick them up, so I haven't noticed.

0 star necks only have a 70% chance of dropping a tail. That could just be bad rng and not paying attention each and every neck kill. 0 star Greydwarves have a 100% chance of dropping 1 resin, 1 rock, and 1 wood and a 50% chance of dropping an eye. OP didn't specify if any mods are in use but a bad run of rng could explain few dropped eyes but not the disappearance of the stored ones.

Probably just because you're looking for them you notice more when they don't drop
