Be Nice to the devs...

Look guys, I know we want new content so bad, but we gotta chill alright. I see people especially in social media talking smack on the devs each time they give leaks. They're atleast giving us hints. Just give em' time, no need to be rude...

I think these people (that are upset that there is no new content) ( Because they love this game) Would have a different perspective if they took a more proactive approach to being a fan.

Over on the official Discord you can actually speak with the devs in real time. They appear in many of the channels and converse with the players. You can submit ideas and suggestions that are voted on in real time.

You can even join the test branch and help the process along. Smiffe was on my test server last night. It was kind of a big deal for me to have one of the devs on my private server.

Real down to earth folks. Super chill.

Doesn't seem to help when all of the discussion for every patch has been locked and no comments can be made. Can't exactly say "hey it's wrong to be mad don't be mad at all just play the game in whatever state it is in.". Not sure what the devs expected of a community when they are going to take this long, just roll with the punches and you won't have a salty community. Don't have to censor discussion (some of it obviously).

Of course now it's all concentrated into this discussion board so I can understand why they did it.

Sometimes when you hire too many new people they get in each others way and it always takes time to familiarize them to the code/project and then time to fix the errors they made because they weren't familiar enough or didn't pay enough attention in orientation before taking on a project.

Depending on the person sometimes it takes more than a month for each of those steps.....

According to who? Name a source that is not connected to your digestive system.

Not to be rude but what is preferable? Something as buggy as Cybersomethingsomething 207x at launch or something that is playable from day 1?

Making a game is, while not exactly easy, you just need to throw enough at it. However, making a game well is a wholly different lox, you will need love, dedication as well as good knowhow. The results will be worth it, usually.

Funnily, smaller dev teams, while supposedly slower, are still often able to do things that big companies can only dream about.

They did hire a few more. Besides just throwing money at something may help get it done a bit faster, but not necessarily better.

I know what you're trying to do here, and for the record, I agree. But you just open up the forums to more ugliness with posts like these. Unfortunately folks think they're entitled to more than what EA actually implies and it makes them salty. Better to just not poke the bear.

Agreed, but you sadly can't fight the tide of people who are like baby chicks demanding more. Many people think they know what's involved in making a game, but unless they've tried it's a bit "dunning kruger" effect.

Looking at most forums for most games, it's a similar theme.

Agreed, though your only preaching to the choir, haters are gonna hate as they say, I trust the devs are smart enough to not beleive the smack, especially since their smart enought to make a meticulously well made game

Often with zero knowledge of programming, and always with zero knowledge of the specific problems that the devs have been confronting, the Children of Dunning-Kruger declare with absolute confidence that "the dev's should have easily done <insert hyperbole here> by now!"

Such "reasoning" is then used to attack the character of the developers. They must be lazy. They just took the money and ran.

Recently, one "game" has been able to seduce me away from Valheim. It's a programming environment called Lazarus, which I am using to create my own wallpaper/slideshow program, based on the thin excuse that nothing works exactly the way I want it to. Nuts.

Programming is fun, not work. Even the company Dilbert works for cannot turn programming into work. That's why they have to resort to endless meetings and team-building exercises.

So the accusation that the devs are shirking is as ignorant as it is insulting. If the people who hurl it knew how much they are revealing about themselves, they would stop.
