I love the game, I have uninstalled it and I don't plan on playing or talking about it again.
I really love this game, it is in fact a great game, I know I've seen people complain that updates are too slow, I understand the criticism, I just personally don't mind because I don't spend enough time playing to be bothered by the lack of regular content, for my rate of play the rate of updates has been suitable and has kept me playing again when new stuff got released.
But alas I won't be playing any more, I have just uninstalled and hid the game news.
Now here's my main contention :
The latest announcement is locked, thus lacking any comments underneath.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/892970/eventcomments/3378285310308463266/
I don't know why that is because it is simply not explained in the post why that is. So from my point of view this is a *restriction of speech*, plain and simple. Why ? Well because the usual system is : you make an announcement, and people can comment underneath, I don't care if it's hateful, irrelevant or non constructive, I like reading all points of views, and I find it dangerous to arbitrary restrict the ability of people to express their opinions.
Making an exception to the usual system has the clear and only consequence of preventing people from voicing their opinion.
My guess is that it is not even the devs fault since the announcement explicitly states "We’d love to read your guesses on what they’ll be used for!", yeah that will happen when you prevent anyone from voicing their opinion. it's probably some overzealous moderators at work, but well, if devs will not stand against this they will pay the price.
So, restricting speech is where you lose me.
I have a lot of things to do and even though I do love the game (if you cared I would tell you why I truly do love it a lot more than pretty much any other game on the market right now) I won't bother playing it again.
Loving a game is not enough reason for me to overcome real life issues like speech restriction, again, if you cared I'd be happy to have a conversation about that, but well, I am not fooling myself, this is the internet, I don't expect anyone disagreeing to be able to have a serious and thoughtful conversation about the issue.
Now what is the point of me saying this then ? I predict I'll get some usual colourful internet comments, go all-in, I really am bulletproof lol.
So why should you give a ♥this-is-not-a-bypass-of-the-censorship-filter♥ then ? Even I am pretty sure no one will formulate good arguments to justify restricting speech in this instance on a Steam forum Lolzzzz, and I'm pretty sure too that this post will in absolutely no way influence moderators behaviour.
Well,
1. a few people sharing my opinion about *Free Speech* (I know most of you have even forgotten how it's written, well it's like that, and no it's not written "First Amendment") will at least see they are not alone in the never ending struggle.
2. maybe the devs actually read that, in that case, you too know that customers are saying *enough* to the bullying, we value free speech, and if you want to keep selling stuff, you should give a ♥heart-heart♥.
But alas I won't be playing any more, I have just uninstalled and hid the game news.

Bye ???
Free speech doesn't apply to privately owned forums and press, it only applies to when addressing grievances to the government. Back in the day that was learned in a Civics 100 class which most people slept through yet still learned.

Not really restricting speech. They are consolidating posts so the forums aren't a mess.
Just that most post ranting bs are the same people doing it over and over and over. When it's moved, I'm assuming most of those people don't bother seeing or reading where they are moved and then complain it was simply erased.
This is speculation. But seeing as most are too lazy to look up game info and rather make a separate post asking questions that could of been answered by simply researching I tend to think the above holds true too.

You are welcome to make up your mind on that issue.
You took it to mean ' we dont want your opinion or feedback so we lock you out of commenting '
I took it as ' we want to say this, and we know some will twist it to say that so we locked this topic, but you can make another topic to discuss this '
Cant blame the devs, a lot of chat is about how lazy they are, or the game is abandoned and they are just milking us for more cash before they run off.
Not a good thing to have in a chat about you working on the next update... I would be leary if the chat was abandoned game, devs ran off, etc etc.
if you agree the devs have ran off, then I will agree your position is correct, but I do not think they ran off.

You uninstalled the game because they locked the comments on their steam page? That's not a big deal. I lock the comments on all my pages. This makes my pages look clean and helps people to stay focused on what I write, instead of the comments. Pretty simple tactic if you ask me and very effective.

You have a right to free speech that I would never diminish. You do not however have the right to a platform wherever and whenever you please. And you certainly have no right to my listening to your speech.
I hope we are clear on this.
