Actually, this is not completely true. ThunderStore manager is pretty good in giving you all the options you want.
1. You can singularily en-, disable mods.
2. You can start modded.
3. You can start plain vanilla.
4. It will look for recent updates to mods and offer you to upgrade them for you.
5. And last, but not least, you can uninstall mods as well.

I can't think of any better way to handle mods. Unfortunately, most people don't seem to use it, or we would experience way less calls for help in here.

Your saves are in appdata so they won't be touched.

Thank you, Ill give that a try. My son checked my computer so I know its not that. Lol considering he built it not long ago he was insulted hehe
Those mod managers are bad also they can reinstall the mods just by being left on the computer. Make sure you uninstall any mod managers too or they can re-corrupt your game files.

Completely uninstall the game and manually(!) delete the Valheim folder (if one is still there) from the Steam library. No need for your son to get offended. It's not his skill assembling computers that should be in question here. ;)

Mods can be tricky and persistent.

Are you using screen recording software? Another user found out that his software "Medal" was probably responsible for these crashes.
