Need stone building help for second floor and above

I looked online and watch videos too. Some people said wood or core poles to help with stone building. I did a 2 1x2 stone blocks with core wood beam in the middle and used arches for support. Also put core wood beams half in the stone flooring. Starting on the second floor. I notice building up with pillar changes from green to orange before I stopped before added arches or flooring. The core wood beam is green but afraid building any more as I feel I get frustrated when everything falls apart. Instead of core wood, would I need iron wood beams or will I have the same issue. Arch has 2 spaces between them. Trying to figure how to build up without stuff breaking. Everything is flat ground while the core wood bean on the ground while stone flooring built around it. I am using 2x4 block walls or is that wrong type to use for building side walls? I notice stone towers use 1x2 blocks. Trying to use bigger block to save stone.
First floor was going to do crafting with storage.
Second floor is bed and items to boost rested bonus
Third floor was going to be portal room.

Use ironbeams, you can hide them inside Core wood and Dark Wood :o

You need iron beams to hold stone in the air on the 2nd and 3rd levels. You can build multiple levels of stone buildings using iron beams, and with some practice, you can even hide the iron beams inside the stones themselves.

There is already "creative mode" They call it debugmode

add "-cosole" to launch parameters in steam , start game , press F5, type devcommands, then type debugmode, close console, then press "B"

no bench requirement, no material requirements ... Z lets you fly (and build) , K is a "killall" command.

I should note this will not work on a dedicated server without mods. But it works just fine in single player in vanilla.

If you have any trouble use the internet , this is well documented

So the 1x2 stone blocks are better for building than 2x4 stone blocks? Is 2x4 blocks more for defense wall than building wall? Too bad there was not a way to learn to build ideas with unlimited supply of stone.

is a basement an option? to save materials i just dig a basement under my longhouse in the meadows for the portals. it has 2 floors. so technically i have a 4 floor building. more than enough space for all the portals. and i only use corewood for structure. the stones are just walls i added later and i never use iron beams. nothing is ever broken.

a 2nd building i build in the plains with stone, is smaller due to the limit. had to use 1x1 stones as a pillar to stabilise the floor. never tested the maximum limit how big u can build because i raise a small island where i build the fields for flax. but i think u have to use a pillar every 3 stones to keep the surface save.

in the harbor i build a bridge with stone and have to use pillars to stabilise. there i have 4 stones and then a pillar.

and for the bed a brazier works too. when u cant use a fire or have no space for it.

The cheapest, simplest way to build tall with stone is to use a large standing stone or tree as the central support. A ring of iron beams radiating out from the top gives you floor level support thirty feet into the air.

Core wood can work, but if your want maximum stability use the iron beams.

If you want a fire for comfort near the bed use stone flooring. The fire can also be on a floor above or below as long as it's close enough to the bed.
