Poor Steam Deck Performance
Hello, I'm posting this again as it was flagged for cross posting so I removed my initial thread from the Suggestions and Ideas forum as I believe this is more relevant in this particular space, instead:
As much as I thoroughly enjoy and love the overall work on this game, especially considering for it to be an Early Access game still, I don't think Valheim should be marked as a "Verified" experience for the Steam Deck. It is at best "Playable".
The performance even at the lowest possible settings is just really unacceptable, dropping frames frequently below 30 and realistically hanging between 15-24 FPS in more densely worked on areas like my Village my friends and I have built while on PC. Whether I play in my own local world or the cloud server we've established, the games performance just drops too heavily to really give it "Verified" rating, and I don't think I'm alone with this opinion either.
Don't get me wrong, it's a stellar game but it already had performance issues on PC in the first place. I think it would be awesome to see Iron Gate prioritize performance on Deck and on PC if it's possible for them to do so. I find it rather misleading to see "Verified" for those who haven't ever played the game previously, now have a Steam Deck, and find themselves majorly disappointed with it's performance issues. It's just not a good look for the game as a whole.
Again, I say this as being someone who has at least a couple hundred hours logged into the game, loving every second of it. It just can't be denied the performance isn't nearly where it needs to be for an enjoyable experience on Deck. Some of my favorite activities in the game can purely be sitting at a camp fire with my friends, or the Pub we've built as a cozy tavern setting. The game just needs better optimization, and should therefore not be marked as "Verified" but instead "Playable" to not mislead others.

Would be great if we could get some updates that optimize cpu performance. Especially for the deck as later gameplay and huge base is a slog.

I honestly have a fine time playing with my steam deck. Even playing valheim with simple builds.

Thanks so much for posting this, I just about ordered a Steam Deck the other day simply to play Valheim on the go... or just not at my desk. Perhaps I will hold off until a more updated Deck is released.

Steam deck CPU sustained frequency is 2.4GHZ, what did you expect? It's also a Zen 2 core which has very poor single core performance. Valheim is very notorious for its CPU bottlenecking when you get complicated builds.
I like the Steam Deck and all, but I'm not in it until they have a (True) Zen 3 or higher core part, ideally an X3D but that might not be possible in the power envelope.

I started a new world on my steamdeck, and it seemed to run fine until I started a large-ish construction. That seems to be the bottleneck.

I'm looking forward to be able to play, not just 'a playable, laggy, badly optimized' version of Valheim on my Steam Deck. I really REALLY want to play it as I would on my pc.

agreed it's just too badly optimized to be even marked as verified at all

I agree, I tried this on my deck and it ran badly. Completely unstable with stutters galore when turning the camera around, sprinting, etc and even when nothing is going on it struggles between 30-35 fps with heavy battery drain. I don't know why it is verified. God of War runs better than this
