Portal Naming Conventions
Just setting up my first pair of portals, and I'm struck by difficulty of using a single name for the portals. My instinct is the name it after the place it's going, but then I realized that I'd have to name it after both places. It just made me curious, how do you folks generally go about naming your links and and navigating your eventual "portal network"?

AS the above posters mentioned you can really name it whatever makes sense to you or fits what its location and or use is.
I use one for each boss
1 for a good silver mountian
1 for a good swamp/iron area
then I have 1 with no connection called "home". So I can build a portal on the fly and name it home and have a quick path home

Just a bit inelegant. This assumes that you use a hub though, right? There must be other people who use more of a subway map style.
In that case I'd totally just give proper names to all the nodes and slap them both in the portal title like you're probably imagining
"BFBase-Elder"

On top of that as long as you didnt mine ore when exploring you can demolish your boat you traveled with and bring the materials back through the portal and rebuild it on the other side and or reverse the option and bring a boat with you!

Things like "Ring" near where you turn in boss heads, one named "Merchant" ..., and one called "TP" that I use like a "town portal"

I have a main base with a portal hub and name all the portals based on where they're going.

Elder Island, first portal. Jamestown, Forest/Plain (First Colony). Florida which is Swamps/Bonemass/Plains (Second Colony). Port which is our main Port at Kings Landing (Spawn). Columbia, Mountain/Swamp (Third Colony). And lastly Trader. All names were chosen by my friends. I cannot elaborate, but I can guess

Basically I just label my portals with a number based on the order they were built, and remember where they lead. Not the most efficient way of naming them now that I think of it, but it's what's worked for me.

Hub style with every portal named after their destination, excluding the "Temp" portal that is used on the fly.

perm portals are in the central location named after the destination
Temp portals are named for their function
"Wood gather"
"stone gather"
"tower salvage"

This assumes that you use a hub though, right? So you never have to name one half of the portals. It's just assumed that it is your hub. I pretty much just have portals named after the biomes or bosses they go to
"Elder"
"Bonemass"
"Swamp1"
"Swamp2"
etc
You name the path that connects the portals, not the portals themselves. This lends to naming it after the function like Nox does.
There must be other people who use more of a subway map style.
