Workbenches, campfires, resin based torches & wards all provide an anti-spawn radius effect. Campfires, torches & wards can be buried, workbenches can be built out of sight in trees (sometimes a flooring piece is necessary).
None of these will eliminate invasion events from occurring against your base. To prevent damage to your base and its structures, build a killing pit outside the walls of your base (earthen raised walls work best as they are indestructible). Dig a hole, not quite as deep as a troll is tall, but leave a raised portion in the middle so it resembles a donut. The moment an invasion event begins drop everything and run outside your base to your killing pit, stand on the raised area in the middle and pick off enemies at your leisure.

Yep forget that bit - above storm tide is important for island base as a friend of mine didn't do that (mine's inland a bit so ok)
If you find a small island, far from a continent, and use your hoe (and tons of stone) to raise that land above storm tide, then plop workbenches/ torches/ etc to full coverage, and you are raid free. Raid mobs only spawn over land, and most cannot cross open water. The drakes can, but if your base is isolated enough they timeout before they can even reach you. If you are REALLY lucky you find an island that is half meadow and half plains so you can farm everything, safe from all the baddies.

Yes. There are certain things you can construct in your build menu that actually stop spawns.
So, if you place them around in certain areas of your house/farm/base you can sort of get them to overlap each other, and eliminate spawns for good in that area.
For example, your house needs a fire & bed to sleep, so those are going to be in close proximity together, probably indoors. You will more than likley place charcoal kilns & smelters outside, so again, more spawn prevention. Same with Forge, Workbench, Stonecutter, Fermenters, etc there are more I'm forgetting, but it can be done.
So if those are all spaced out in a certain area size, you could potentially block spawns in a decent sized radius, depending how large your house or buildings/ town area is.

You can make your bases totally immune to spawns and events. But it takes some work.
Not sure about flying events messing with crops... that might be something you just have to deal with.
First to prevent spawns inside you need 100% coverage of spawn preventing items like workbenches... any tiny gap will allow group spawns inside.
Next you want a wall around the outside. This is less for defense and more to block line of sight. Enemies will not attack if they don't see anything to aggro on.
An important factor here is how your base is located. You should not build a base where enemies will have the terrain advantage on you. Optimally you want your base to cover the peak of a hill.
Out from the wall you want a series of moats or drop-offs <drop off if on a hilltop> spaced apart from each other and the wall. This area should also have spawn prevention coverage but you will need to hide the benches or whatever so they don't get attacked. Bury them or enclose them in shelter so they are not seen. <or resign yourself to repair/replace regularly>
Keep everything in base covered except farm area.
Nothing can spawn inside
If an event happens they will spawn but just stand outside and do nothing. Just crouch for the closed eye icon and wait it out. Nothing should attack. If they do from hearing a noise they will often toss a couple of rocks then stop if the see/hear nothing.
After the event ends you can just clean up the remainder.

OP, you would benefit from this video. The player does a test on every item in the game on mob spawning. I personally hate the look of the crafting table and tons of campfires so I place wards and hide them. They also have a much larger area of coverage.

If you mod your game:
There is a mod where you can press G and see outlines of these 'no respawn areas'
There is a mod where you can change all raid attacks to your liking
There is a mod that ads turrets and then you welcome the free loot muhahah.
Can also have like armies of tamed creatures which can be anything in the game (thanks community; hope it's never broked by the gamedevs).

Op just letting you know, workbench reduce spawn rate, it does not prevent them. I still had mobs spawning inside my walled in 10x10 space bee farm with workbenches in the middle and each end corner.

Workbenches, wards and campfires all prevent spawns there are others too, but these are the main ones, but it is a radius, not a cylinder, so you need to have good coverage to prevent spawns, and heads up, enemies can spawn outside the radius, then move up, break the workbenches, therefore decreasing the radius.
in my experience, best defense is a wall, the inside needs plenty of fires and workbenches (ward are amazing too, as they reduce damage to the stuff you build, and will send out an audible blue pulse if something gets damaged, alerting you to unwanted guests)
Finally, tame some wolves, and have them patrol your perimeter ;D

I have mostly spawn proofed an island base inbetween two rivers (meadow biome) with a few workbenches and then surrounding it with walls (in the water so not spoiling the view).
Does make the non-flying raids more boring though xD (although had to put roof on the boar pen to stop the drakes deleting them).
Have tamed wolves but left them in the pen as un-needed.
Meanwhile skeletons and greydwarves fight each other outside instead of attacking the walls so occasionally go out and pick up the drops
On the other hand, my non-island base in the black forest is usually fine, as with a balcony on a cliff it makes a great chokepoint for raids or trolls wandering by (as mobs try to path under it)

The very best way is... to use Campfires. Or Bonfires. The reason is, every item on the list avatar.zero linked to does the player base thing, but they all also act as a target for monsters.
Campfires and Bonfires not. They can still be destroyed... but monsters don't target them to destroy them.
If you want to fully proof[/p] your base... just dot the area with Campfires. What I usually do is pull my hammer out and select the Workbench as a measurement(it has the dotted line in 15 meter which is the player base radius)... and then make the line touch slightly other Campfires... then switch the Workbench with the Campfire and place it. Ideally you use your Hoe to mark the spot by use "pathing" so in case the campfire gets destroyed... you see the spot easier. Or raise it up one notch, works good too.
In theory all you would need to do, is place the Campfires in a way that their radius just slightly touch each other... but since you can't see it... I usually go for the overkill and let them overlap generously.
So far, my Plains base is Deathsquito free and Goblins only spawn far far away at night. Since Campfires are no target for them, they just spawn... have no target in range... and stand there not bothering me.
There is a mod, that lets you use a button to show every object that points a Player Base... it is just pretty intensive when you turn it on.

Default behavior of workbenches prevents spawning in their radius. For example I've placed workbenches in the mouth of Troll Caves and then walled them in to prevent Trolls respawning in the immediate area.
Some mods such as Valheim+ let you increase the radius of the workbenches.

Torches (whether they're lit or not) will also prevent spawning, with the same radius, and for less material cost.
In fact, anything on this list will do:
