My thoughts on mistlands

lots and lots of tiny little islands all covered in thick fog, filled with mobs that will cleave your boat in half in 1 swing, the ship is too big to replace it, dying in mistlands makes corpse running hell, since you cant see where you are going or what 1-shotting mob is infront of you, mobs that deal deadly damage even with your best armor and good food buffs.
Its an annoying danger from the seeker mobs, the gjall is ok, but the seekers seem to spawn more lvl 2's than lvl 1's, not to mention the knockback they do, sometimes they knock you so far back you fly into the sea and you might be low on stamina, so you nearly drown on the way back, if you can even get up from the water, cause the slopes of the islands are steep, the dwarves definitely have problems getting up from the water, once they fall, they never get back up, and then the seekers can just do what they do until they die.

installing several mods took a massive weight off my shoulders, such as keeping everything on death, makes dying in mistlands less of a ♥♥♥♥♥, cause mistlands is a ♥♥♥♥♥.

I dont like mistlands. i think it needs to be cooked in the oven for a bit longer.
Plains was hard, but it was fair.
Mountains was hard, but it was fair.
Swamp was hard, but fair.

Mistlands on the other hand, spawns fuling berserkers that fly like deathsquitos, in the thickest fog imaginable (and thats even with the little whisp lamp)

Mistlands makes me lose interest in the game.

That's how it looked like for me when I first found the biome, on an old seed. But I've seen really fragmented coasts and even standalone islands which lacked access to other biomes entirely.

It might be worth not disembarking immediately when finding the biome, and instead choosing to circle around the landmass to get a better idea what you're dealing with. I progressed on that map from west to east, from south to north. I guess I got lucky finding a mist-free vale after the initial scramble for broken shores and some deaths.

There also exists mistlands regions with mountains in the middle or alongside of them, might make for a good vantage point or even forward base. And decent scenery.

I have a really large mistlands area that I've been exploring. It's one of the biggest biome areas I've found short of the starting island. But it's all tiny uprisings surrounded by waterways. A real pain to navigate.
I'd say the terrain in the mistlands is a much bigger hassle than the actual mist.

On the up side, it's given me a reason to use a raft again. That's how I've been navigating through all those tiny waterways, because the longship is way too large for the task.

Is it a world seed from before the update or after? Either way, even old worlds will have continental mistlands regions. I ran into a fragmented coastline first too (I think many do), and it was devastatingly difficulty without taking things very slowly and with Biomass power right at the dungeon entrance. The cape helps a lot too, but it's not strictly necessary for enjoying the course.

A recent one, so after the update.
The seed i got gave me a million tiny islands, pretty much have to navigate by boat and build bridges, cause the depth between each island is sea deep.
