Just finished the mistland update with a friend and what now??
I know many people have complained about the latest update, they either find the mistland too much or not enough (even more after the nerf) But I've loved it. I think the magic system is promising, the biome has a lot of really cool concept, it feels more alive with the addition of a friendly-ish faction. The sound design of the Gjall is great, the Queen and the infested capital was a cool concept. The ''issue'' is, after spending another 100hs in the game (we started a new world and new characters), I want more lol. I really hope we can get new content soon and not have to wait for another full year to get a major update. I know the team is small and all, but I'm really looking forward to what comes next. I just hope they fix the performance issue, running the game at 20 fps when you have an AMD Ryzen 5 3600x, AMD RX 5700 XT with 16GB of RAM on top of having full on gpu or system crash (yes my drivers are updated and I've cleaned my pc less than 6 months ago) is pretty bad in terms of performance for a game like that. Even worse when your performance is pretty similar in 1080P than it is in 4K. But that's pretty much my only complaint on the game itself.

yeah, next biome will prob be in a while, hope they can bring some smaller updates until then, like getting the magic system more fleshed out. fixing bugs. maybe work on the ocean biomes.

I'd also like a way to either upgrade our light armors further, I really like the Fenrir suit with the claws, but even in the plains it's kind of under par, doable, but not quite there, so there's no ''real'' light armor option for the mistland and since each set has its own suit bonus (Troll giving stealth bonus, The Abomination one giving archery bonus and the Fenrir one giving fist bonus) makes it so that if you prefer the bonus of one of the earlier one, then you're really in a bad spot for later biomes and the Fenrir claw being afaik the only fist weapon, the dmg are not that great in mistland or even when taking down a Fuling camp. That or releasing a new set of light armor for the plains and one for the Mistland. I like how they're starting to flesh out the idea of having ''classes'' in the game, I just hope they do more, because atm, the only really fleshed out ''build'' is the fighter one with alot of weapon diversity, mage arrives pretty late, but it's fun to play and like I said, ''rogue''/dex build are always behind (literally always 2-3 biomes behind)

bruh who woudnt have paid good money of mistland update. and what is the monetization behind it. Idk how they can release this updates with such a small team and for FREE. Im ready to pay for the next update if its gonna be this good I will 100% pay there is nothing else to play anyway

bruh who woudnt have paid good money of mistland update. and what is the monetization behind it. Idk how they can release this updates with such a small team and for FREE. Im ready to pay for the next update if its gonna be this good I will 100% pay there is nothing else to play anyway
It's not for free, this is content that is part of the main game you paid for, they are just releasing it over a number of years. It's early access. It's easy to think of it as a dlc but it's not.

yea this would be nice.
I hope they will introduce some lower level magic stuff, so we don't have to level up starting from scratch and not feel like a total nub.

Yeah, but at the same time it kind of makes ''sense'' in the lore that our characters would get access to magic by using dwarven rune magic. I'd still like if they could find a way to implement it that makes sense. I also really dislike the amount of level/xp you lose when dying, like I wanted to raise my ''rogue/dex'' stats for the Fenrir armor, but since there's nothing of the sort for the Mistland's balance, I ended up focusing on fighting/magic builds (fighter until I crafted all the magic stuff) And since the mistland is a harder biome that I was learning, I died a bunch here and there, sometimes because I made stupid decisions or played poorly, sometimes because of stutters in the game's performance and all those ''rogue/dex'' skills I had grinded went back to low levels since I didn't get to raise them back up between deaths which kind of sucks personally.

(There's still the frozen lands to the north and the fire lands to the south and an ocean overall) So no, it shouldn't've been a paid DLC or even free dlc as it's supposed to be part of the base game. They promised at least 9 biomes (like the 9 worlds) so these shouldn't be paid content. But I do agree that the quality of the update (imo) is on the level of what I'd like paid dlc to be.

HIGHLY doubt will be seeing any major update "soon" I bet it will be at least another 9-12 months. I mean new biome appearance/terrain, what 8-15 new mobs/NPCs, different patterns, crafting pieces, POIs, weapons, gear, stations etc etc..
I have only been in ML briefly because my community server is taking things really slow. But it is so gorgeous.. and terrifying all at once I love it. If it takes them a long time to make the next one that beautiful then so be in. lol.
