Specific player joining starts lagging/dcing others in dedicated server

I run a dedicated server on my spare laptop for a local group of friends. The issue we've faced recently is, that a new friend has started playing on our server, and is (probably) causing some problems on the server.

Before we've had the occasional dc here and there and generally there's not much desync even with up to 8 players on. However, after the new player has started playing, we've been dcing out of the server every 5-10 minutes. The server logs have started showing a "Playfab network error --" each time we get booted out of the server, which I've observed only a few times over few weeks before this specific player has started playing. The problem with the disconnecting persists whether that player is online alone, or with others, but doesn't seem to occur when that specific player is offline. Most of the time the player will also have the dc icon on, but usually does not get booted out, while everyone else will get booted and have to wait until the server does some cleaning up and can accept players back in.

I don't believe this to be a problem with my network or hardware, because we've been able to play with up to 8 players without issues before this player has started playing. The laptop has 2gb ram free even with the 8 players online, my upload speed is 100M, the laptop is connected to the internet through cable, and nothing else seems out of the ordinary when the disconnect happens.

The person that has been causing this issue plays on a lowish end laptop, using a reasonably bad mobile network connection.

Has anyone else had such issues or might have any idea how we could fix this? We would very much love to have her playing with us, but we cannot play with constant disconnects.

In an extremely over simplified generalization; peer-to-peer games, like Valheim, are more likely to equalize to the lowest common denominator. AKA the worst connection, because of how the data packets get sent back and forth between every connection constantly. If they start dropping packets or failing to send, the whole thing breaks down.

your friend needs better internet or you have to drop him.
you have zero hope to continue.
but i think you already knew he has to leave and just ask for conformation.

Thanks for the link!

From what I've gathered now, it might be a problem with her mobile connection (I believe she shares it from a mobile phone to the laptop). It seems that if one's connection is not good enough it might actually affect everyone else since the server will have them queued for long periods, and this might actually be what is causing our issue here.

I'll do some network checking with her later to see if her connection is really that bad that it could be affecting the whole server.

tethers are generally not supported by most gaming companies.
i used to use a tether as well. either i couldn't join outright. or had bad ping. or it would hiccup. and i could see it affecting the server.
so i really could not play any MP games until i got standard internet.
