What happened to the stamina?
Stopped playing for a while, once all the bosses were defeated, i'd gotten max gear, max food etc. Come back after the hearth and home update and i must admit that i now detest the thought of farming wood, or stone because the stamina is terrible, i have to pause after every swing to gather some stamina for my next swing, and that's with food. Every time i go out to farm wood, and I've used all my stamina (that doesn't like to re-gen apparently,) i'm met with hordes of grey-dwarf, which don't hurt me with the gear i have but it still takes me a while to kill them all because I NEVER HAVE STAMINA. I have found that the stamina drain rate vs re-gen rate still sucks even with the best food :(

I played the first day H&H dropped and it was really bad.
Just started to play again after the most recent balance pass and I have to say that it isn't all that bad.
Food has changed a lot but not overly difficult and since the effects last longer it feels like I am eating less food and progression of food makes it so you shouldn't stockpile much as you outgrow it fast enough.
Overall the stamina usage feels fine for my playstyle.. I don't notice much change from pre H&H ... I may have less "reserve" but for how I normally played before there is enough for what I am doing. <so far... just in the mountains right now>
A lot of things like mining seem to be taking less stamina due to the pickax getting multiple hits on top of the ore veins all seem to be doubled up. So stamina per amount mined feels like it has dropped as well as time spent mining in total and needing fewer spots.
The multiple hit thing really does well in the swamps in the muck piles as well.. much faster and less stamina to clear passages.
So far it feels more balanced but very reasonable.

What do you mean by "the pickaxe getting multiple hits"? I have noticed a drastic improvement, mostly in the crypts, but also on rocks, and wondered what the change was. Working a crypt seems to take much less time since the update.

the 'best' foods changed (honey was nerfed to death, for example, and other switcheroos) but if you look at the values and choose a new set of foods you will be fine.
I use bread, fish wraps, and one other health food (whatever is about) for general 'everyday' play. Bosses or night-plains or other hard activity I mix it up, fishing or high stam needs I use bread/shake/onion soup combo.

Yes ok thanks for the daily opinion on stamina in Valheim. I'm guessing you never played any Dark Souls games, at all, and all you eat is meat. Pay attention to stamina drain on weapons/tools and you won't be having a hissy fit.
And if somebody tells you to just use a mod, well I might as well tell you to just use -console and max your stats out. Orrrr you can just play the game fairly.

I love how people turn toxic cause someone posts an issue they're having. If you can't be nice, don't reply to someones post. My issue is more to do with the regen of stamina but thank you to those that helped, i will try using 2 stamina foods and the fire idea :)

The stamina topic has been beat to death by trolls just looking to complain about the update. Also, you don't ask for advice, which makes it look even more like a troll post.
Assuming that you're eating halfway-decent food, the best thing that you can do to improve the regen rate of stamina is make sure you are rested. Being rested doubles your base regen rate, whereas a fire (AFIK) only matters if you're cold or wet, and has much less of an effect.

By getting multiple hits I mean that it used to only hit one surface item at a time. What do you mean by "the pickaxe getting multiple hits"? Now it acts like the ax in wood where all items in the swing arc take damage.
Add the double ore spawns and getting 4 damage numbers with one swing is easy.
Instead of one hit on one part in a swamp muck pile you get damage through the whole arc on whatever it passes through so you just can chew up the piles.

That makes sense. Whatever it is, I like it.
Even with all high-health foods I never have an issue with stamina on the mud piles. Previously I sometimes used stamina regen potions. Part of that also might have to do with now being able to get through a crypt without running out of the rested buf.
The less time spent in the muck of a crypt the better!

You shouldn't be running out after just a couple of swings even with only Raspberries. You are correct though that you have to keep a good eye on your stamina usage now.

Yeah, food improves the stamina pool but does nothing for the regeneration rate. There's a mod that makes that precise change and it feels sooo much better.

Make sure you have your rested buff. If that's not enough, slap down a fire near where you're working for even more stamina regen.

Use 2 stamina foods and 1 hp food for grinding/working , dont know why in h&h tress fall in the player more usual than before , even with the wind in the other side xD
Remember that some old good stamina foods ( fish wraps ) are now a hp food
Now you have to manage well your diet with anything you want to do

Please explain what you mean by "the best food", or I have to call "troll" on this one. There's no way that you can't cut down trees and kill a few greydwarves with any halfway decent food.
