Temper Your Expectations
This is a good game. Very capable of being the next Minecraft, if cards are played right. Just a reminder that everyone should temper their expectations. So much overhype / hate / asking for 5 devs to do God's work. Maybe its on them releasing it now for us to 'test', but we all know how it's been.
This feels like a finished early access, and we all treat it like it's finished. Because it FEELS finished. Just gotta remember, that it isn't. At least 35 percent is left from the original idea, and who knows what they will add after release.
Give em time, see what happens, and enjoy what's here.
P.S lot of complaints I hear are about long treks after dying. Setup a bed, and you'll be fine. Been a rule in survival games since Minecraft came out. Why the ♥♥♥♥ its become a brain-juggler is beyond me, but there's a tip for you.
Bring your spawn point with you (in this case twenty or so wood + stone for fire), and you'll be fine. If you are that scared of the boss / area, make a portal within the area around that is safe (nearby meadows, or a good part of black forest), spike it with walls / traps, and use that.

Hopefully that price stays the same and some publisher doesnt buy this and fill it full of MTX ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Hopefully. Seems good so far. I think thats why they've refused to hire / ask for help. They want to keep it small and keep it within their control. That, and more money for the the 5 of them.
Kinda hope they at least hire a few more buddies though. This 6 month wait for Hearth and Home (not to mention the rest) will be rough lol.

There was definitely a lot of inspiration from that in this game man. Love they improved on the voxels though. More angles and stuff to work with.

At least at 1.0 I think they have the right to raise the price a bit, it was definitely a deciding factor for me. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this since I assumed it was heavily geared to multiplayer which I tend not to be interested in. But at $20, might as well try it, and worth easily twice that even alone.
Besides allowing the devs time to actually develop the game, people need to realize buying into EA/Patreon/Kickstarter projects will always be a risk. The finished product may not be what you expected going in, but as long as that team is trying to put together something fun and not blatently lying to you, you have to be a little patient and not scream "GAME IS RUINED!!!" after every update.

This is doing pretty well at that. Was burned hard as an early adopter of 7 Days to DIe and DayZ, but when a buddy (who is rather picky) got into Valehim, and I saw a bunch of hype around it, I had to at least try it. Had been eyeing it myself since the hype in feb, and he got into it in April. And now im into dev interviews and all that other stuff. Fully invested into seeing where it goes. But also reminding myself that they may not have wanted it to be this big.
I just hope Coffee Stain keeps up to their word on what they can do.

I'd say in general it's easier to put down portals while travelling than beds. They don't require fire or shelter or override each other if numbered, and you kinda want to respawn somewhere with backup equipment and food.

Its a great game with the potential to be enourmos!
I love every single part of it, but i do hope they bring different enviroments around, more objects to craft/loot etc. No overpower stuff but different things that make you feel like you progress.
Its kinda boring to see the same plains, mountains, meadows, black forrests and swamps all over the place. And its kinda "meeh" when you spot a chest, only to know the content is not worth even opening it..
It CAN be an amazing game if, as you say, the cards are played right.
I sure hope so :)

Minecraft is an ugly blocky mess. I much prefer games that look more realistic these days. I was hoping games that looked like minecraft would stop being designed after a while, you know, because of progress...

when he says minecraft i think he really means 'as popular in the building game area as minecraft'
but even on that I am not sure the comparision is accurate but that could be because I am biased on compartmentalizing building games into two major categories A. Voxel or mostly Voxel 2. not Voxel.
but I see what he is saying

Everyone chill and let them do their thing. They were doing just fine which is why we are all here. Trust the process. You'll put too mush pressure on them calling it the next Minecraft, sending them scattered in a million directions on things you desire, and trying to rush it out of early access. Relax...

I hear you but seems to counter the "temper expectations" idea. If we have it in the back of our minds that it could be a nation-wide sensation then anything below it will seem lackluster. Tempering expectations in my mind means being patient for updates and knowing the devs could make changes that fit their vision but not ours. That's the nature of EA.
