What if Eitr Armor weren't trash...

It's armor is kinda weak, starting out equal to a maxed out fur suit. More importantly, it's benefit is subpar to put it nicely. Combined the components provide roughly the same benefits as just being rested does. Moreover, unlike the Troll, Root, and Fenris sets, the Eitr armor provides no set benefit.

What if it did? For example, what if it had a set bonus that gave you a bit of Eitr, perhaps 25 like the magic mushroom?

Thoughts and criticisms?

Don't wear the set and go around casting spells. I promise you you will have a worse time. The set is fine as it is. I would strongly prefer the regen than a measly 20-25 eitr when I'm already at 240 with food.

Those aren't mutually concepts. The individual pieces give regen, but there is no set bonus. The lack of a set bonus often means, "why bother with making more than 1 piece?"

As for those foods, sure, if you've got the stock pile to where you can constantly make the best foods to outpace your use of it or just cheat a bunch in like the average youtuber talking about the subject seems to do.

As for the "try magic without the armor" bit, I did. Since the rested bonus does the same thing, it's not that big of a deal. Sure, they stack, but I can get the rested bonus with little effort without being bound to that armor set or pieces of it.

So, objectively, what's wrong with adding a set bonus for a set that lacks one and arguably needs it?
Moreover, why not make it a bonus that allows one to use at least some magic without having to make greater tier eitr foods?

That's a 500% increase in regeneration.

I saw a video today where a guy was testing eitr regen with robe vs armor and it looks like the 100% regen buff is BS. Or at least it was vastly decreased due to rest helping with regen as well. With his test he regenerated 35 eitr in 5sec with the robe vs 7sec with the armor.

I want to test it myself with a bigger eitr pool to see if the difference makes it really worth it. I always trusted the buff without really questioning it. OTOH I dont use magic a lot, I just like slicing things with my sword.

I feel the Regen it offers seems not worth it in practice. It should be less armour cause I spose it's meant to be a glass cannon kinda build but the magical properties It provides dont seem to offer that much, maybe set bonus should be +15 skill in all magic types

I'm not really a magic-user myself (though it's fun to have a mage or two in the party when I'm playing with friends), so my opinion might not mean much here, but I really feel that the Eitr armor would be better if it actually added to your base eitr and not just the regeneration. Something so that you're not just totally reliant on foods, y'know?

[EDIT] In other words, just like OP said.

Eitr regens like stamina, just at different base (i think its 3x less). This does include having bonus from Rested buff for 100% faster regen. The armor effect is additive. So additional 100% means increasing regen by 50% if you have rested buff. If you have resting buff its like 20%.

That also means regen when you are at 0 eitr is twice the regen at maximum eitr (as is the case with stamina). So best way to increase overal regen is to eat as much eitr food as possible (and spend it).

Honestly, if you are going magic and using the set, you won't really care about the armor value cause you will have the bubble shield active at ALL times and never actually get hit on your armor.

Fenris armor: 30/48 total armor in mountains biome
Eitr-weave: 49/70 total armor in mistlands

It's consistent.

Try using magic with carapace armour. You'll change your mind quickly.

The 100% eitr regen is absolutely necessary for a magic build. You could take 80% extra regen and equip a carapace helmet for extra protection. But really, the bubble created by the staff of protection should be around you at all times in the ML as a mage.

It's perfectly balanced. If you go melee don't use the mage gear. I personally like the mage build most in a multiplayer context, it really makes the team stronger than the sum of the parts. But solo I prefer carapace.

Yeah, even just a little, like the 25 of the magic shrooms, would do wonders to make magic feel like less of a chore to use. As a set bonus, it would make wearing a full set more worthwhile.

i was annoyed to find out the armor doesnt give any base eityr. only regen. you have to eat the eityr foods in order to have any, but you have a base level of health/stam.

It seems pretty consistent to me. It provides a bit more protection than Fenris, and it's special benefit is Eitr regeneration.

It probably wasn't the best choice, but I used it in a run through Mistlands without even using magic, just Skoll and Hati. I probably would have benefited more with the mobility of the Fenris set, but got me by.

Of course, it's intended to be used with magic, so looking at it's stats out of the context of magic is not really a valid comparison, and it's pretty tough to make apples to apples comparison between using magic and using melee, where armor makes the most difference.

I see where you're coming from, but the entire set's benefit is matched by the Rested Bonus, though, while its defense is woefully inadequate for the area. Without some kind of real set bonus, it's a bit lacking.

Root gives protection against piercing, which is very helpful in surviving in the Plains and Mistlands. Fenris gives fire resistance, which is helpful for fighting the giant sky scrotum. Eitr Weave is 3 pieces of armor that combined slow you down and give you the same benefits as being Rested. It's easier to just be Rested. It's easier and more beneficial to craft only a piece or 2 of Eitr armor and mix it with Fenris and/or Root armor

As it is currently, without a set bonus, there's honestly no reason to make the full set. There should be a good reason to consider making the full set, though. Otherwise, you're better off with something else
