Disappointing
(This does not apply to those giga-casual players who struggle at all with combat/progression in this game. I envy you. Or people who never get tired of building. I'm sure you find your fun.)
I never in my life played a game with so much potential, or been so frustrated at how easily some of the biggest problems can be fixed.
- Combat plays like a fisher price toy it's so easy.
- Bosses can be killed with little to no preparation time, people and myself are easily killing them naked with level 1 weapons. (Whole biomes can be skipped)
- No loot tables for bosses, so not only are they not engaging to fight after maybe the first time not having any idea how a boss works, there is 0 reward for killing them.
- Resources are over-abundant and not exciting to find. Even while speed running biomes I find myself with more trophies, gold, food, and crafting materials than I could possibly make use of.
- No difficulty slider. ... ... Really? For a game like this, there's no difficulty toggle to buff the monsters/bosses stats? Even for "early access" that is stunning to me.
Note that none of this is complaining about lack of content. These are all problems that can be fixed with all the existing material.
I'd even be more than thrilled to pay for DLC's or whatever is necessary for them to start tackling real issues.
But hey, keep releasing patches fixing Troll's pubic hair and give us new roofs to build.![](https://community.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/economy/emoticon/steamthumbsup)
I really loved this game, but after beating it I realized just how hollow and empty it actually is for people with any gaming experience whatsoever. I understand it's in early access, but nowhere on the previously existing road map or in their current plans do I see any recognition of these problems or plans to address the dire issues with combat simplicity or lack of replayability. But I hope I'm wrong.
Shrug.
