WTF? Is this a known issue?

Valheim has just crashed requiring a restart (which it has never done) and when I logged back in, I was back at the summoning stones and all my bases are missing!!

Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how did you remedy it?? If there is no fix, and I am betting not as my original save in the Steam cloud will be overwritten, is there another way to recover what was more than 100 hours gameplay?

I hate Steam for this and many other reasons, so is there a way to play Vaheim without having to use Steam? I only ever play solo.

If it does this and you log back in and exit you will save over your backup and you're done. Happened to me except I just died. No crash. Everything went poof. I logged in and out before I googled a possible fix.

The fix apparently is on the beta build right now but not live.

If you look in the Bugs and technical issues in the sub forums to the right there is a pinned discussion about recovery options.

*Edit : Also you can disable cloud saves and you can set a Valheim shortcut to your desktop folder. You can also back-up world and character files.

Also I think the guy above is mistaken , look at the pinned topics here and in the bugs and technical issues folder. you likely have a save that was tagged "old".
