'A Love Letter' to the Developers and Creative minds behind Valheim.
Dear Valheim Team.
This game has done so much to make a atmosphere of gloomy dangers and unknown turns.
And i for one love it, first time me and my friend was paddling to a distant island when a storm hit us. We did not know if the storm was going to strike my boat, but we conceded that the gods loved my boat. On the other hand the waves was doing a number we were not making much distance and in a way that could not be scripted a thunderclap cast a shadow from the waves, my man at the rudder looked at me "Did you see that?". And my boat turned into a Serpent chewing toy in a second.
We did not leave our island before we had the big boat, simply cause we did not know why it happened, but next time we were prepared.
But always when we found a new biome, a new creature or a new material we were always happy about the way the recipes worked. We always thought there was more to find, refusing to move along for the longest time, hungry to find that hidden gem. After the Swamp Boss we realized we had been sitting on chests of gold all this time and the idea of things not seen peeked again.
Always the modest graphics seemed to trick us into thinking that the game was somehow going to mirror that modesty in it's mechanics, but every time we think we are safe the world of Valheim bites back unexpectedly.
Suddenly convenience becomes key, as we spawn massive farms and brewery's to fuel or need to go further. When the end finally came it was not a sense of having being done that filled us, but constantly we were looking back.
What if we restored that town, what if we connected those islands, what if we made something of that boss shrine to honor them? You get the picture.
What I'm trying to say is with this needlessly long post is.
The game is great and i can't wait for it to become even more.
Love the new tiles, I'm the groups designated builder.
Now i have a few things that i hope you have considered, because of course i have.
The Sea.
More events, like different levels of storms, maybe even a level where you just have to sail around even if you have a huge boat.
Boats...
Big Cargo Ships.
With high rigging making it very hard to defend, but hard to hit people on board with arrows. And tons of Cargo space, maybe not to fast.
Animal Transport Ships.
Cages for bringing wolfs and maybe a big middle cage for a Lox, or to bring brutes home to work the fields Muhahah.
Winter/Summer where the ice sheets extend down the map by some measure.
Boats might get stuck with the need to mine em out or leave them on foot to return in the summer. (You might even make little things for the boats like a heat core lamp that breaks the ice as you sail slowly. Or a Wave-breaker)
Triggered Events that might be hinted at on old rune stones. Like if you hunt 2 serpents on the same day, the 3 will be a bigger or just higher star count serpent. (Does not have to be sea related.)
The Ground.
I love me some cart pullers, can be anything, 2 wolfs, a Lox, One of the brutes that we have taken to referring to as Jรถtunn.
Mini Bosses.
The game is so inviting to be explored, i think Random spawning Mini bosses be a fun thing to set out to find, Not all new bosses mind you but maybe a special of the ones we have, have like a big troll wandering the Dark Woods somewhere on the map.
The Reward be cool if it was unique, but it could also just be a leg up in the form of a armor or weapon that you could craft later anyhow.
Underground.
I'm such a sucker for into mountain and underground stuff, so I'm very BIAS.
If there was a way that everything above did not collapse when i dug in, i be really happy.
Even if you could just build like a entrance into it and you did not dig but build the hallways and rooms like into it and they did not clip back into the rooms.
Anyway, I love the game. So happy the early accesses works so good. (I can count crashes on 1 hand.) So happy for you all.
Cya around the comments.

Thank you, I do realize this are all dream scenarios. Nice letter ๐
Also nice ideas i would like to see implemented in the game.
Unfortunately, some of them are impossible or too difficult to implement (like seasons and underground).
Seas definitely need more attention. Devs were talking about reworking/upgrading ocean biome. That will probably come as the last update so I believe we need to keep talking about it. I hope new ships will come earlier.
Also mini bosses are great idea and have been suggested a lot of times. I hope devs have this under consideration.
What i believe we need to encourage sailing and exploring are POIs. Something that we need to conquer like towers, bridges, lighthouses, more dungeons with minibosses at the end. Trader could sell maps for these.
The underground and initial seasons idea, is quite lofty in the engine true.
But a scaled back version might be something that could be done, like seasons could simply be a lean on the current weather. The underground might just be some shapes of rocks that makes building under them tempting. ^^
But like you I love the sea faring, the current sinking islands are awesome. I was wondering if a single never sinking wandering island could be a thing. Like the merchant it would be another unique thing to find, maybe add some hard to find stuff on it's back. But due to it's ever moving nature it's something you happen upon.
About dungeons, could it be like ever generating things where they have a end. But you could spend resources to expand it with another path deeper (New instance), meaning that you could when you find the right dungeon make it really large so that you could farm it. (I'm just spewing stuff now.)

When it storms outside and the wind really howls, I literally close my doors and put extra logs on the fire. It makes me feel better. That's how well this game does mood and atmosphere. It brings out some truly primal reactions in me.
I wish the g*dd*m days were longer is all. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing.
I appreciate the sentiment and like to echo it~ Do not ruin the atmosphere. ^^
I do the same, like I sometimes open the door see it raining and go like.. "Later~" And close the door again.

Hey let me know if you are looking for peaceful land in small but persistent Valheim server called Volkenvangr where our community is growing its roots. I am trying to find people who enjoy a combination of building, exploring, creativity, and general roleplay of our characters. Server has been ongoing for about 2 years now, and the community is small but secure. You seem to love Valheim as much as I do, lol.
