Small swamp strips? Not a lot of crypts on them.. if any.

Is this new since Mistlands I do not remember this being a thing before..

In our game there are usually a lot of our swamps are thinner strips either bordering plains or mountains with 0-1 crypts in them. The land volume is long.. but usually narrow.. and has rarely anything in them. I'm not talking about thin enough as to where you can see the other biome through the swamp from the ocean.. but thin in comparison to most other biomes I've encountered. Hope this makes sense.

A Jotun armor site in ML can yield almost as much iron as a crypt and the wishbone can also locate muddy scrap piles in the swamp even in narrow strips.

OK that is great guys but we are on a new map.. in t3 troll armor.. yes yes I know I can get copper and iron from Mistlands.. if we were there then that's what I'd do we are tying to find swamps because we are not even to mountains yet in this world lol.

Sometimes, you can find a Vegvisir Bonemass in ruined towers in the swamps, and you usually get some crypts in the Bonemass swamp.
If there's a good difference in height between the swamp strip and the bordering biome, you may have the luck to find a muddy scrap pile partially buried under the slope.
Last but not least, try to cross the ocean from your swamp strip, you usually get another swamp on the other side.

Love this actually...makes exploration more fun. Nothing like creatures from 2...or even 3 Biomes going at it. Plus yeah, sense of accomplishment of finding a large swamp

Small biome footprints pre-dated Mistlands. You would find swamp strips, mountain bumps and even meadows patches in the middle of larger biomes.

your best bet is to run 10 or so.
open the map generator site and make 10 random maps with the crypts turned on, and nothing else to control clutter. see what the trends are for swamps.
Ive made 1 new map and continued 2 old maps since ML, not enough to say anything at all.

the streaks o swamp are nothing new, though. I had one map where it was literally 1-2 tiles running along an almost dry river for about 100+ tiles -- right thru the plains. It would spawn swamp mobs, but there were not even any trees apart from one small (5x5 ish) puddle at its biggest part.

no its not new and happens with all the biomes , swamps are just easier to see and notice ive got a surtling fire spout in a meadow and a plains stone pillar in the swamp on one seed
if you can find a meadow with plains attached it can make a good farm
those areas do have concentrated spawns sometimes too so be careful
anyhow yeah its random

ha that random surtling sprout sounds awesome.. lol

That's a good idea.

they nerfed the crypt spawn rate by a huge amount, later seeds will have their crypts spread out more.

Its nothing new but can be annoying if you're playing on a random seed

Yea I always play random seeds... I like the fresh world ya know. I will do what one person suggested and maybe look at the number of sunken crypts using the world generator.. I just wish they separates the sunken crypts, burial chambers and abandoned mines better and provided an actual number.. that map generator could use some work or maybe I just don;t know how to use it well.

If you're worried about availability of iron, there's more to be found in the Mistlands as well.
