Building after Heart & Home is only crap

Why did you change the way you can build houses and pieces fit together. It is totally crap now. When i started in February 2021 it was a dream to build a house and make it bigger after a while and everything fits together perfect.

Now, when i have a house with walls and i add floors around, they dont stick to the other floor pieces. They stick to the wall and when i remove the wall, there is a gap between the old and the new floor. This happens to many situations. I have gaps between walls, sometimes you can watch through the corners of a house.

Other point when i place wood under a floor to connect to the ground. I cant place wood anymore that disapears in the ground. So i can place the longest available pieces that is not reaching the ground and is still in the air. But i am not allowed to put another piece under it. Thats really strange. That worked very well in the past.

In my Opinion with the latest patches you did not increase the game value. For me building is a mess now and i already hate building houses after 3 hours of play and would like to stop playing Valheim and check all the new added things.

Is there any configuration i have missed and that i can prepare to make the game and building more convenient again? I loved Valheim until today, but now, when I realize, that building is totally ♥♥♥♥ right now, i do not like to play it further, because i know it was already brilliant in the past.

This is exactly as it was before but there was a mod for it I think.

Yes, pretty please. I would love to have another toggle hotkey to "snap only to highlighted object".
I use the "better snap points" mod for this, works great.

Yes, that was it! Only mod I ever considered installing. But I wait for a full game before I add any mods.

Hey guys,

thanks for all your feedback. I have more than 300 hours of play in Valheim and believe me, i have build already a lot of huge buildings and projects alone and with friends in different worlds and on different servers. Without and with mods. And because of that, i know, that it is different for me right now - compared to my past experience. Especially where i have to aim, to get wooden pillar under a floor, when it is uneven. and it does only acceopt over the floor, not underneath.

Of course i do not use any mods or anything else, that would change the original game. If i would use them, i would not start a thread here. That would be nonsense.

So far i have seen nothing that would explain the issues or could help. I do not want to install mods right now and hope i can enjoy the original.

The only idea i have is - i have used a house that was already on the map and started to rebuild and increase the size about 5-6 times. I will search for a new open area and start a new house from 0. Maybe that can be a gamechanger.

i found building is as easy as it was before
maybe the reason is that im experienced in valheim building or maybe it got easier

if you fiddle around a bit you might find putting a floor a seperated stilts may solve your issue

just try a lot im sure you might find good solutions for building issues

do you have mods? Everything snaps exactly like it did before for me (no mods here).
the only screwy building thing is the crystal wall won't snap to other crystal walls, even if it can go in the target location you have to click on something else to get it there.

I can't relate to your story at all. I don't have any of the problems you mention. You sure you don't use mods or keep the Shift key pressed while building? Imo, this is the most satisfying building system up to date. I honestly can't name a game which has building nearly as satisfying as Valheim. If I were you I would check if there isn't something going wrong on your end, as your description doesn't fit my experience at all...

Sounds as if you unlearned how to build.
If you snap the stuff your grid will work perfectly, nothing changed

Nothing has changed for me either when it comes to building mechanics; everything works exactly the same as it did before H&H.

What building really needs is for the snap points on the block you're pointing at to have priority over other nearby options.

Perhaps they added some snapping points to allow for more possibilities, and this could prevent some previously "easy" building technic, I don't know.

Even so, "crap" is certainly out of place in the title.
