game runs better in higher graphics?

Idk about u all but i just recently turned up my vegetation quality from low to medium and also my particle lights to medium and it actually runs more smooth in window mode somehow?

anybody know an explanation or is it just my imagination?

According to the first result on google, the reason valheim has bad framerate is because something about the servers having to work twice as hard to do something so this explanation actually makes a lot of sense

It's all about recognising where your bottlenecks are at. usually GPU vs. CPU if your bottleneck is CPU usually lowering Graphics settings ain't going to do nothing for you unless said setting for example lowering Shadows reduces the load on the CPU find out where your bottleneck is and adjust settings accordingly

Well, this is interesting to know because i always played on low quality to improve the render distance, so i'll play around the settings now. GTA V also does this with the textures settings, they use up more memory but increase the framerate.

Plenty of games do this. Its my understanding that higher settings usually have tech that is offloaded to the GPU, while on lower settings the same is done on the CPU. If you have a decent GPU, offloading some of the work for it lets the CPU to do its thing faster.
