Missing Moder alter is a very old bug that was patched out a long time ago.

Don't know if gamebreaking and bug are the right words. Maybe annoying and scarce to find.

In all the worlds I have played I don't think I ever found the ID stone before I found the altar... maybe once?

You don't need to find the ID stone at all, so it isn't game breaking if you can't find it.

Altars are huge though.

Overall in terms of difficulty to find I still think Mountians wins as the altar is small and ID stones are rare.

Yeah, sometimes it's a pain. I've seen many people post that they found the altar before finding a runestone. What's really fun is when you find the appropriate henge and there still isn't a runestone.

i found the altar on 16th Plains island, still don't have a damn runestone

I'm one of those who found Yagluth's altar just by sailing around a large island. I found several of the stonehenges where a vegvisir could be, but also haven't see one. I just got lucky is all.

I also found Yagluth before finding the rune stone, but my plains explorations hadn't gotten very far. I stopped looking for a rune stone after that.
