1.5 year hiatus
Haven't played this game since june of 2021. Kind of got a little bored. I see there are lots of updates, is it a lot better now?

old biomes boring as hell like before...so a massive world an no reason to explore...
This
Game was (in the first 50 hours) amazing, and then it just got boring. The visuals are amazing, but that doesnt make the game fun and exciting to play
Once you seen all the bioms, thats basically it, and imho that doesnt take long.
Enormous open world thats not that exciting after all.
New monsters, different dungeons, more crafting things and a more diverse world would make the game bigtime..
But basically this game developes to slow, and biggerd doesnt really mean better..
50 hours of content for a 20 dollar game isn't a bad trade off. While updates could be faster, there is plenty of meat on the bones of this game to enjoy already. Stop and smell the roses on a playthrough or play with other people if you want more engagement. Use mods for more content. If the devs stuck in an ending to the 'story' and called it complete a year ago then everyone would be singing the game's praises forever.

If you ask people with 450+ hours playing this game, a lot of them will say they're a bit bored and developers are way too slow at giving more free stuff and really need to hurry up.
Probably because they played 450+ hours.
Now if you have a whole 24 hours playing this game, you should be fine. Enjoy all the new content.

It's more of the same, so I don't see any reason that you won't still find it boring. I quit after defeating Yagluth to wait until Mistlands was released a couple months after the game launched. I wasn't bored of the game at all. I'm finding that I'm just not into it anymore. I think the excessive amount of time we had to wait for content probably cooled a lot of people's excitement for and interest in the game.

Mistlands removed the fun of exploring, i feel that the new biome its just broken the way it is, bad fog mechanic, enemy hits like a truck so u have to choose not to die from hit kill or don't have stamina to run when necessary, its the most braindead map ever designed in the whole world its like playing the mountain biome blindfolded and took 1,5 to this poorly designed map .
The lack of content of the game make they choose to make the game way way harder to hold players, the problem is the actual combat sucks, stamina mechanic right now its bad, all bosses are poorly designed and way too easy its harder to kill 3 enemy at the same time than any boss.
Skeletons, Goblins, Draugr, ghost, have the same attack patterns if the enemy have four legs they all are the same
The game is good but they need to hire more people or this project will take 10 years to have actual good gameplay
and for your question the game feels empty even after all these updates, lets hope that in 5 years every biome feels empty or close to it.

exact...wait 1 year for a biome is way to slow.
really sad , so a good game with very good building system but 1 biome...
and thats all ? after 1 year ? i think an elden ring dlc comes faster than a next biome :D

feels like its been on a backburner all this time. many of the issues i had on day 1 are still there like fighting on slopes, 2 second freezes every now and then, resetting resolution settings in options and so on

Why I, and I'm sure others have as well, asked them to consider adding random wandering mini bosses that perhaps carry unique and useful items. Or as with the dwarves, to a degree, a faction or two that you can befriend and/or trade with, or war with.
Just need more interesting mobs, quests, items, structures, etc. that can procedural generate within the world as well to give reason to explore.

Define what you mean by 'better?' :)
I think the Mistlands is great, challenging as ___k. I'm having fun with it...

...so far. But, if it continues to just be punishing, idk how long I'll last before I move on. I enjoyed the hell out of this game before the long wait before the Mist.

They reworked a lot of stuff via Hearth & Home and the additional changes of added content to the mountain zones and planes. I have been about on the same hiatus time wise and coming back starting fresh it feels like such a more complete game then it was back then. I had put a 100 hours into it back then too, so I am really am enjoying the changes/additions and the more fleshed out world and systems/recipes/combat.
