Can we just relax a little here?

I knew this was going to happen. Starting with Hearth and Home was the logical thing to do for the gameplay, but not for the community.

The community set their expectations too high, yet it was clearly stated what "Hearth and Home Improvements" was all about. You guys need to relax.

The new food system isn't that different from the old, you're just going to have to find the new recipes that best suit your play style. Yes they nerfed stamina quite a bit, but that was for the better because the game was getting too easy, the game needed balancing and still does in many areas.

I see too many people acting like spoiled children, and I'm not just talking about the complainers, but the ones "defending" the game by jumping on every single thread to harass anyone who voices their harsh opinions. And I get why you go to extremes, because you all love the game and want to see it improved. But this isn't helping anyone.

We got an update about Food and Base Building, they delivered a good update, to our expectations. It took a while, but that's because they were fixing bugs in the game after the early access release rather than working on the next update immediately.

With that we also got a massive improvement to performance, and weapon updates. Which honestly I didn't expect. So in a general sense they delivered more than just Hearth and Home.

Lower your expectations for this game.
Once that roadmap is done, that's probably all we're going to get.
This is a real game in old terms, not a service that constantly gets updated.

What that means is, you buy the game and that's that. Don't expect new content.
Although one never knows if they decide to make an expansion for the game in the future.

I mean we've known Hearth and Home would be the first update since April. And we pretty much knew what that update was going to include. As you mentioned, there were some extras with the new weapons, shields, etc.

Personally, I like the changes they are making. I think there needs to be more balance to the food. That being said, I'm 99% sure they are not done and (given this title is still EA) balancing / more changes are highly likely. In my opinion, the people freaking out are the group of entitled individuals who believe that if things don't go their way, they won't have it.

I've even seen people complaining that there were no new biomes or bosses with the update. I mean that is absolutely on the people making the complaints. We've known for months that the first update would not be adding anything of the sort. And yet we still have people complaining? This, imo, is the problem with EA. I feel like people are becoming way too entitled. People need to understand how the development cycles work for games and, as you said, lower their expectations to a reasonable level. Nothing that currently exists or the state of its existence is final. This is EA. Anything and everything could and very likely will change.

I agree with you overall however spoiled doesnt make much sense. I fail to see the connection to the defenders cause what do they want that they think they deserve? People agreeing with them? That doesnt make much sense. Call them toxic or harsh or even meanspirited if you must. But I dont feel spoiled fits the bill.

As for myself, I just personally feel that we have far too much rage from the people complaining. Why? Because we are in the Day1 update for at least 6-7 more hours. It feels like they are driving the devs over with a train, full on downvoting the game on the storepage, making reddit threads (tho its reddit who cares) making troll and hate posts and likely even talk on social media about it, if not even youtube.

7D2D doesnt get this much hate and I honestly at this point dont get what is even happening and as to why this game gets so much of it. Its baffling to me.

It's not that they are spoiled, it's that they're acting like spoiled children.
It' doesn't just mean they're overindulged, it can also mean they're egocentric (the inability to accurately assume or understand any perspective other than one's own) and narcissistic (have an inflated sense of their own importance).

Acting spoiled and being spoiled are different things.
But being spoiled generally leads to acting spoiled.

or maybe people enjoyed the progression and the fact when they spent the time grinding for high level food it provided high level rewards. Majority of people play single player and this update made it very difficult and there is no reward because even if you spend the time to get high level foods and balance them to have both stamina and health you cannot combat high level enemies effectively.

I am not worried there will be mods soon that change this but i am sad the devs are heading in different direction. What makes it worse for me is that they did not learn and pickup some of the great projects that came from the moding community.

Two +80 health foods and one high stamina food should be plenty to take on anything in the game effectively at the moment, provided you have the equipment and skill for it.

Sure, you might not be able to grind the hardest enemies in the game atm non-stop without taking a breather (regen health and regain rested), but.. Isn't that a good thing?

I never found a use for health & stamina potions before hearth and home. Now I actually do.
I'd say that's an improvement to gameplay and difficulty.

Agree with OP.
The fact that people complain, is that they CAN complain in the context of video games. In the real world, there is so much frustration and strange things happening and there's no tangible responsible person.
Here, it is different. You can concentrate all the rage and hate to the one company, who made a bit of your life better for 2 weeks and then suddenly worse by acting unexpectedly.

I'm not saying, that every complain or feedback is based on this, but the intensity people throw themselves in is frightening

Everything in this update is something that could have been patched in over time instead of making people wait 8 months for ♥♥♥♥ all lol

And getting it done earlier means they can focus on content YOU will like more effectively in the future. So at least you have that to look forward to.

I've had my expectations set right the moment I've seen they have delayed first update and what that update focused on.

I'll just ignore the game for a year or two, hoping it'll get somewhere by that time.

I've got dragged in by wave of hype that completely intoxicated friends I play with, but quickly sobered up once novelty passed to realize its going to be "another early access" game.

So, whoever isn't a psychofan of this game, I advise you to step away and return in a long time.

Have you missed 1800 replies thread about game going nowhere for last 3 years?
There is rapidly growing number of people who are utterly fed up with 7d2d devs shenanigans and you dont see "this much hate", because fanbois will pile on and chase away everyone who doesn't revere devs as literal gods, being in so much denial and delusion, they openly tell the game should never leave alpha.

It's kind of unfortunate how true this seems to me. I went through the patch notes and kept wondering where the major update was. If this is what they can do with 8 months than I'm pretty worried.

There is a lot more to it. They didn't spend 8 months on this, they spent 2. They spent the other 6 on bugfixing and a ton of background stuff, like hiring new people and so on.

Calling this an 8 month job as some people do is blatant misinformation, please don't get dragged into it.
