I Hate This Game!!!
I can't believe this happened, which really pisses me off.
- I just finished building an updated base when and was just about to log off when the game hits me with a Troll raid. Before I had a chance to react a Troll with a log kills me and destroys my portal and bed with one shot.
- I build a raft and get to where the raid is still happening and decided to wait it out sitting at the perimeter until it stops. One of Trolls go out into the ocean and is able to reach me with just the top half of his head above water. I try to move away from him, but the wind and paddling won't allow me to break away from him. He destroys my boat, so I swim for it and die inches from shore.
- Make another raft and a storm starts halfway back, so I decide to wait it out at an island I saw. There are actually 2 Black Forest islands, one with a Troll cave and the other with a Crypt. My raft gets stuck in the shallow water between them and a Skeleton with I bow kills me from the raft.
- Make yet another raft and finally make it back to the base, which is half destroyed. After I start to rebuild it the log Troll from the raid shows up. Since it's the middle to the night and can't handle both the Troll and Greydwarves at the same time I make a run for it going to hide in a nearby crypt I already explored until morning to face the troll then and kill him.
- I then go back to my main base to repair all my weapons before logging off when the game hits me with another Troll raid. I get outside in time, but the Troll with the log kills all 4 of my wolves. I do my best to take out that Troll before the rock one, but get killed.
- Respawning back at the repaired base I go back through the portal and get hit by the log Troll before I 100% exit it.
- I do it again making it through this time. I grab my stuff and kill the log Troll just after the raid timer expires.
I didn't have any raids for over 100 days and then the game hits be with 2 within less than 7 days. Stuff like this makes me regret re-installing this game from last time crap similar to this a happened.

you have wolves and trolls give you trouble? How?This.
You do need a moat or terrain wall if you want to protect your base.
Or OP has a habit of fighting trolls with 25 max hp.

I'm just about ready to take on The Elder but I'm updating my bases with anti-troll defenses first. Moats/terrain walls and making sure my structures aren't within the log wielding troll's area of effect. At this point I can take down a no-star troll with about 4-5 fire arrows if I'm not already detected. Event trolls apparently spawn with a 200 meter detection range so they'll likely know where you are immediately.
I'm kind of wondering how prepared the OP is.
Anyway, sailing is refreshing and good exercise. Stay hydrated.

That sums up pretty much my experience I had with Valheim early in my playing.
Everytime you are longer in your base, any "base" you have, it rolls a dice and sends a raid.
A "Base" is when three items are close enough to each other, that being a bed, campfire among others. You can read the detail on the Wiki.
One way to spit into he games soup of raids is to do what Retsam1 said so niceley:
The other thing you can do.... place campfires everywhere... campfires are not directly targeted by enemies, but they do prevent enemy spawn around them even when not lit up, so what I did was dot a huge area around my base with campfires.
Prevents enemies from spawning close by, even raids. This can be misused because the defensive mechanics in Valheim are half-baked.

Why do you not have your bases protected with trenches earthen walls etc etc?Just dig a trench around stuff, deep enough so the walls of it are steep and tall enough so you can't walk out without using sprint. Either that or pile up earth walls.

This is the game! You can, as I do go for many hours in peace, but that leads to complacency and the game will punish you big time. It's just happened to me. The last 100 hours, I haven't died once and walk around the plains with no issues. I took my eye off the ball and despite having health at 190 and similar stamina, I was attacked from behind by 4 growths, just as I was about to set up a portal. Of course, I died quickly but I reckon it was my fault not the game. I've also had similar situations to the one you have and it took a while for it to sink in that preparation and patience is the key. It's frustrating to lose all your gear and for your base to get beaten up but sometimes it's time to step back and slow down. It is a survival game after all. I hope you get sorted and of course you can always get help from the community to get your gear back and I'm sure they would take care of that troll for you. Good luck.

Portal and bed got one shot so OP probably spawned back at the start, naked with no tools, and went for a ragerun corpse retrieval. I've done some of those myself, not gonna lie.This.Also why in the world, if he has wolves, is he using a raft?

That sounds about right, and so have I. More than once.
After losing the first raft, the best thing to do was cool-off and make longer term plans for getting your stuff back. Sometimes you have to save out of the game and give yourself a chance to cool-off irl. Make some tea, or smoke some.
This game often requires patience. Create a new base, a new position of strength, and then you can go get your stuff in a longboat with decent weapons.
You can console yourself that at the end of the process you will have two strong bases should such a catastrophe happen again.
And put moats around both bases.

A bit of bad luck but mostly it was a result of your poor approach and lack of experience with troll raids.
Typically when a troll raid begins they spawn far enough away that you have the time to exit your base and lure them away before they can do any serious damage and since troll raids only occur after you've killed the second boss you should already have the equipment and experience to efficiently take out trolls.
Your second mistake was how you approached getting back to your base and getting your loot back. It isn't the game's fault that you chose to try go back at nighttime where there are more enemies and debuffs on you instead of gearing up a bit and waiting for day time. For some reason you also tried to rebuild your base when you hadn't eliminated all the trolls from the raid which is just kinda silly.
I hate to break it to you but it's kind of your own fault things went so badly, yeah the game can be harsh at times but if you had tamed wolves then you should've also had the knowledge and experience to avoid getting into such a situation and handling it so poorly. Don't blame the game.
