This game should be difficult. What to do next.
This is not the type of game that people who enjoy cheats and console commands will keep playing for a long period of time. So do not give into their demands.
The people who will continue to play this game in the long run are those who enjoy gathering everything for themselves and enjoy the difficulty of the game and also those who enjoy base building.
- Keep difficulty hard,
- Add a lot more base building parts.
- Add more content (zones, monsters, trophies etc)
Those are the 3 main things that will keep those who actually want to play a game like this more than just 2 weeks playing.
*** 3 content updates a year should be enough. Just try to keep something rolling out once every 4 months and the game will survive a long time. Don't waste time rebalancing difficulty every patch because people complain. Just focus on adding new stuff into the game that people actually want.
- First thing I would want is the ability to ride horses. Not anything crazy just horses and only horses and more farming options (cows, chickens etc). Give the horses the ability to pull the storage carts also. This is the type of making the game "easier" that needs to be done. Not making the monsters lower hp and weapons more powerful.
- 2nd thing create a equipment inventory separate from the normal inventory.

Why not leave the base game the way it is and add more content and features? Gaming has always expanded via mods. Like it or not, Mods are a part of the gaming industry that allows gamer's to create what they feel the game should be. It also helps and balances the game. What you asked for is what 99% of Valheim users want. Why are you segregating people when we all want the same thing.
Lack of resource is what pushes people to mods and a lack luster system.

I'd like to point out that we don't have the base game yet. It'll be another two years or so before it's done.

Well, like I said, I don't find the game to be difficult so when I see people saying keep difficulty hard I have a hard time figuring what they are talking about.

I'm not going to deny there are some challenges that come in a way of Low Stamina finding yourself outnumbered. It happens to the best of us in Minecraft and that's another SUPER EASY game. Well, like I said, I don't find the game to be difficult so when I see people saying keep difficulty hard I have a hard time figuring what they are talking about.
If you haven't seen ModPacks for Minecraft some will take months to complete and the plethora of resources and crafting items keeps you engaged. Valheim doesn't have that "IT" factor.

food buff complainers made it easyer now as the fix was applyed. had a nice fight with a bunch of greydwarfs before the small patch and now its back to "stuff your viking with what ever food" one has and maw thru them like there is no tomorrow - well i think those gyus are just unable to rethink and wanna sit on their fancy build castles with no handicap.
at least the blocking part works good now. but with the buffed food its like a bit too easy.

The game is what you make of it really, but building is indeed strong with it.

one hand hand, yeah building things is part of the game but its called "the hardest survival game" which includes tough fights with some sort of competition
buiding is fine but thats only one part of valheim

Personally, I don't get the whiners for the new food system. They keep saying it sucks and it's tedious, but I like the new system. I don't find it tedious. I've been playing for about 6 hours since the new major patch and I managed to fend off dwarves, build a new house, run around, gather stuff with zero issues. It just requires a teeny weeny more brains to think what and how you want to play the game.
It's so crazy that for these entitled whiners, all they care about is "OMFG! THESE CHANGES SUCKS!!11 THE MAJORITY NOW HATES THIS DEAD GAME! THE DEVS DON'T CARE ABOUT US ANYMORE! HERP DERP! ME ME ME ME ME!"
It's so mind boggling.
Reminds me of World of Warcraft. Blizzard gave into the whiners and dumbed down the game so much, that someone like me who spent thousands on it, finally left along with my clan. One would think that it takes something like making Valheim into the next Hello Kitty Adventure, a total 180 degrees move, would trigger insane vitriol from its fanbase, but nope. All it took was the developer making an Early Access IMPROVEMENT to the food buff system and suddenly all the little snowflakes come out screaming bloody murder.
