How do you stop boars from magically escaping pens?

Me and a pal setup a pen, following a quick guide on the internet (since we're both beginners and clueless on what to do) and after we managed to round up some boars to put in the pen and feeding them.. we went out doing chores. I went out hunting boars for meat and my pal portal'd out to work on a storage house at our "main" base and when we came back, all five boars had teleported outside and sprinted away into the wilderness.

How do you.. make them not phase through the walls? The pen is made with normal wooden walls and doors.

It feels like this issue could be solved if the game rendered terrain and buildings before entities.

I build a barn, then a fence around the barn, then a defensive wall (to protect from raids) around every thing.

The sprite for boars is large and when you enter the area the animals load in first and the walls load in later. If the boar is moving it can clip through the wall and when loading is finished it will be outside the wall (piggies are small enough that they don't clip through the walls). A double or triple wall gives you a chance to round them up and put them back in the barn again. The more boars you have in a barn/pen the more likely you will experience a clipping issue.
That's such a bunch unnecessary extra labor for something to work like it's supposed to.
Its still less labor than taming a new batch because they clipped and escaped. The game is still EA its not polished yet. You can't expect perfection but there are things that you can do to prevent the issues in the meantime. Also you will want all those redundancies when you start getting the harder raids.

The raspberries are to get the escapees back into the barn.

Thank you for the explanation. We all witnessed displaying in sequence, mainly in heavily built areas, but I wouldn't have thought about this in solo play.

Perhaps Devs could separate loading and actual displaying and animation.

As said, work with multiple walls. Also, the bigger the enclosure, the less chance they are close to the wall.

I stopped having escapees when I surrounded my boar pen with the sharp stakes trap. They're also useful to keep everything in the meadows and black forest, aside from trolls, away from the piggies.
