They did at one point have one. and that's exactly what happened.

the dev layed out updates on a roadmap , and literally left the game alone for a year and a half after banking a crap ton of money of course people were upset . they could have been transparent and said they had no intention in attempting to follow it or keeping up with it in any facet. but instead they ruined stamina and made it where you could stack coins and that was it for a year and a half! now mistlands came out and its amazing to have something new to do it even if your not a huge fan of the terrible terrain or inability to see.again it wouldnt have been a big issue if they just said hey thanks for the money were taking a break or not touching the game for while. instead they dangled all these new things they had in mind and did nothing with it

I'm predicting a totally unexpected cross over into the Star Wars universe for this falls Darth and Dome update.

I just pointed out the reasons why a roadmap is a bad idea due to past issues in several game companies i have seen have them in the past as a customer of many of those games.
including this one.
Discussing the pros and cons of a company having a roadmap would be interesting though.

I never cared for roadmaps. But what if instead of a fixed road map, a very loose to do list? Something like.

Far North
- implement a thing
Ocean
- add a thing
- maybe another thing
Other Goals and Ideas
- neat features

Nothing with a fixed timeframe but just maybe some planned items.

From experience, people will ask for fixed dates if they're not provided. I've seen it happen several times sadly.

that's a pretty good idea. though i think making sure its not in numerical order like you posted would be a good as well.
i get yeah on the dislike for them as well. i got really turned off on them after Hello Games and Star Citizen.

Discord already mentions Ashlands being the next biome, does it not? The small patches that come before it are more unclear, probably the missing Mistlands upgrades and then who knows what.

They're still a little to slow with updates in general so I hope all the bugs and technical limitations that slowed them down have been handled and can speed it up a bit. EA game or whatever other reasoning you want to give, I still think it's not unreasonable to expect something more than such a terribly slow pace to updates

And here is your reason that roadmaps are so problematic; People with no idea of what is involved in implementing them will see it as a binding contract rather than a general plan for moving forward and have a ridiculously over the top emotional response to not getting what they want when they want it which is everything, now.

scrap the roadmaps to feel less restricted and more spontanous whilst avoiding making promises that are hard to live up to

Doubt there will be a roadmap, though we basically know they're going to add the Ashlands and Deep North at some point, and a potential rework/additions to the ocean.
