TIL my strategy of leaving a raid running to prevent them elsewhere is pointless :(

thanks for the info .. yes it is indeed a like a timed D&D style roll of the dice... still not convinced a "raid: doesnt possibly "chain " with the "events" .. it would still appear as a raid.. it would help explain newbies being "raided" more frequently.. because they then killed a new type of foeThat's easy to explain. you make a strong point +1 however there is this line in the wiki
line ONE " If an event is already running when a new one triggers, the previous event will automatically end."
If you leave the area where a raid is currently active, the raid is paused and will only resume when you go back in that area.
If, while that raid is paused, the check for raid starts a new raid on your current location, the previous, paused raid is canceled. Not quite. Event triggers and raid checks are two different things. how does it trigger? when a event/raid is already running?
line TWO from wiki " The source of death for a creature is not tracked. Therefore, despite a player's best efforts to not kill a certain creature to avoid certain events, the environment (e.g. a Surtling walking into water) or a neighboring biome (Lox fighting a Troll) can unlock those events for that world."
so consecutive events can trigger from actions other than boss kills, ..are they on same timer... clearly not if you read line ONE
i still surmise the chance is NOT zero
An event trigger adds the relevant raid to the list of possible raids.
A raid check rolls for the possibility of starting a raid from the list of possible raids.
Whatever happens, there is only one check for raid every 46 minutes (I should have checked the wiki yesterday, it's not 45 minutes). That number is fixed, which makes it impossible for 15 raids to happen in only 6 hours.
Edit: The more I think about it, the more it feels like very old-school D&D random encounters. I like that.
i see event triggers as additional to (46 minute timed) raids and independant .. you see them as added to the list of "raids" and becoming another type of potential raid..... . all good thanks. I guess a dev could pipe in here and let us know.. note: i just played for a few hours in my bases and nothing not a single raid.. meh!!

imho dont get in to gambling... the chance is NOT zero...there is a "Chance" i wont bore you with the maths .. But i have worked a few years behind the Gambling industry..... The chance isnt Zero... just like Roulette players ignoring the little green "Zero" when they bet red or black . they ignore it at their own risk. edit : oh and OP said 6 or more hours... well you can only get a raid every 45 minutes and the chance is 20% so the chance of 15 raids in 6 hours is zero.

There is 1 check for raid every 45 minutes.
The time frame given is 6 hours.
So there can only be 8 checks for raid. That means 8 raids max, which makes the 15 raids statement impossible.

oh and just discovered that raids are written into the world file, not the character. so a character who has killed "Yalguth or higher" in another world wont trigger those raids in a "lower" say "Bonemass =killed world" edit: Oh and we do not know if this is a server based OP.. im assuming Solo

if you stay in your bases raids will keep happening. The game doesnt want you to become "farmville" its encouraging you to fight.. if you must build something huge ( as i like to do) If you are poorly prepared, then you are maybe in the wrong biome to build a base at that time. from memory raids can trigger after 45 mins... so 6 hours is 360 minutes, or 8 raids... :-) Winner!!! if you must you can use devcommands and "ghost" while building seems to help.. but i find i dont really need it... unless im rebuilding something with new materials... sometimes... ok.... fessing up!!! i have a three storey stone floored building on each level in a round building.. so it took a while!!!

If you know you want to build a large building you can also hold of killing the next boss until you finished building, which means you wont get the raids from that biom.

Yea definitely something wrong here.. are you sure it was "raids" and not just you staying out at night and having the locals come looking for a party?
