Stopping enemy spawns in your base?
I have read various things and depending on who you ask they all contradict themselves.
I have read to stop enemy mobs from spawning in your fenced in camp you need to:
use the heo to flatten ALL the land to remove the grass, or use benches to cover the whole area or use wards or use benches and wards or use campfires.
For each one someone says it works and another person says it doesn't so why aren't the dev's answering this question?
Would like to know what really works or if it not possible at all.

With all the wall building - is your wall completely surrounding your area? wondering if there is a gap and the gap causes a spawning issue.

First of all, no enemy spawns in your base if its closed, they can spawn near your base and enter an opened door or a place wich is not built.
They dont spawn in the workbench area but i guess they can spawn in your yard if you makd the fence at the edge of the workbench radius and maybe thats what people say.
Also, what mobs? Because during invasions they can break stuff.
Boars and dwarves will actively spawn when you are online, they will try to destroy your crops.
I lowered the ground by 1 tile near my farm and built a wall on top to double proff it and they didnt destroy my crop again.
I thibk people give more details like base layout, is it in the yard or base, biome and mob.
This may happen but so far in 90 hours and reading the forum daily i havent seen it

i would like to know About that too. my Camp is completely walled in, without faults in between the Palisade. i tried putting workbenches everywhere, but all that did is cause me to wake up to broken benches and dwarfs sitting next to them. I tried putting useles buildings everywhere, because the loading screen said mobs dont spawn near playerbuildings. Nothing made a difference, except that the typical area in which they spawn IN my camp shifted around

I have some small houses in random areas just to teleport to to mine, harvest wood, or other resources. Just a workbench inside. Teleporter is outside. No walls, no nothing. Just house and often a boat docked next to house on the shore, all within range of my one workbench. Nothing has been broken or destroyed. Ever. I even leave the doors opened as well, as I never really bothered to close them, since it made it easier to run in and out.
My main house and my 2ndary house by the shore are the only ones that are walled off and with multiple workbenches scattered around the premises. Mind you, every bench is roofed or inside to protect it from the elements. No mobs have ever spawned inside, nothings been destroyed. Only my main house has the Odin ward stone built, which warns me when my walls are getting hit, but it's usually mobs missing their ranged attacks on other mobs and it hitting my defensive walls instead. That and not all my land is flattened, some of it is still just the way I found it, grassed and all.
Just my experience with the base and mobs near my bases. Only time I've had mobs spawn or attack me in the open was in the base I set up to grow flax in the plains. Deathquitos, lol, just flew over my fences and started attacking me, but they're flyers so that doesn't count. :D From my experience, even when mobs spawn outside my walls or near my base, they don't aggro me because the walls prevent them from hearing or seeing me, which is how it's suppose to work from what I've seen and read.

i dont know where people got the info that they dont spawn near workbenches, the only statement i have seen ingame is that they dont spawn near your Buildings They dont spawn in the workbench area but i guess they can spawn in your yard if you makd the fence at the edge of the workbench radius and maybe thats what people say.

rather big and open its more like a small settlement, not a keep give more details like base layout, is it in the yard or base, biome and mob.

Personally, my group has tested this multiple times, and the workbenches ALWAYS remove the spawn. Always. Not saying you are lying, but the general public is telling you that because that is our experience.

What I have done is overlap the workbench radius to build my settlement. For the walls I built all the walls inside the radius of my outermost workbench. I haven't had a problem with mob spawns in my base and when the raids happen all mobs spawn outside. A thing you will have to watch for is the deterioration of workbenches that are not under a roof (deterioration can be disabled with mods) and monsters targeting your workbenches. Any spot not covered by workbench radius (speaking solely from experience) can be a spawn point for mobs.

Since last time i saw such a thread i saw one spawn on a plateau.
So the plateau seem not to protect 100 %
(No workbench range at that time so far i remember)
No idea what is about Workbenches and how good houses protect (never saw a spawn inside a house)
But maybe i have so few (or non in general) spawns is because i build not on spawns. One of the things i demand to build somewhere is that there are no enemys arround. or with other words, if ou need to defend yourself during you build the spot is not good

What I am doing is fencing off a large swatch of area which will be my settlement and I want to build various building inside this. Right now I am using wood and beam building materials, I just unlocked the bronze axe.
What I do not know is what exactly I can do to stop greydwarves and etc from spawning in here. This is in an area in the BlacK Forest btw. I do not care if deer and necks spawn just the greydwarves and occasion troll is.
Now when building your stakewall does it have to be "snap" connect in all spots or can you leave gaps like this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2405959243
Some general shots of what I am trying to stakewall off:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2405959257
On the land sides I made a trench on the other side of the stakewall:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2405959279
One side is bordered by a river and the other the ocean. On the ocean side I want to eventually make a port and a small dock maybe on the river side.
Here is a pic of ym map with a red line showing where I have built a stakewall so far:

I know it's a pretty big area but surely this is a way to stop the greydwarves from spawning inside somehow?
I know you can't stop those special events that popup inside the base like, "the forest is moving" from spawning inside but I can live with that.
I haven't unlocked building with stone yet btw.

This worked for us
1.) We made a hill - Enemies spawned on it.
2.) We built a house on the hill - Enemies spawned on it
3.) We built a moat around the hill with only a bridge - very few enemies appears in the base
4.) Surrounded the base with walls (after the moat) and gate - no enemies spawn in our base since then. We even now made extensions, new areas surrounded by moats and wall connected by bridge to our main base and no monsters spawn in those either.

Built a large village with stone walls. No monsters spawn inside. Outside yes. Inside no.

Because there are like 5 of them and 3 MILLION people are asking questions right now? I wonder why one of the devs simply cannot let us know?
