What is the cart useful for?
I haven't played much with the cart, since it seems to require that I make a road to work well. The time it takes to do this seems greater than the time it would take to just run loads of ore or whatever without the cart.
Does the cart become more useful in multiplayer games where you can have cooperative road building? How are you using the cart?

Climb up a hill together with a friend. One pulls it up. When you reached the top take a seat in the cart and make youre buddy let go of it so youre getting a ride downhill xD

You can drag it over hills/obstacles if youre careful. I've never had to make a road, i just chop/dig away at anything I cant go around. It's particularly helpful for lumber trips.

I always park a couple near my kilns and furnaces and use them as storage. One for wood and coal, the other for ore and bars.
I rarely use them to cart anything anymore, unless I have a well prepared path from my boat to my base.

paincanbefun, place a couple of them beside your furnace and smelter they hold a lot so it comes handy for tons of wood and coal after its refined.plus your refinarry ores. Great place to store stuff close by.

I use two of them while building, one for stone, one for wood, so i dont have to run back and forth to my storage.

Activate the power of Eikthyr and run your cart full of harvested goodies back to your base.

loads of ore
Use it for moving mats around your base and not for ore.

the cart can be broken and rebuilt repeatedly to create free small containers. While they only hold 4 things, they can be kicked around unlike normal chests (kicked onto a boat, for example...) and they fit in tight spaces around the house.
other than that, in solo play it is too clunky to haul around for my tastes but its not bad inside a large home to store a lot of junk. With the relatively recent update to large chest capacity, I use the cart less for storage too.
The ability to move it around a little inside your base may be useful, eg if you smelt outside but your forge is inside.

Hmm to me have a limit , i tested with 7 tons ( full of silver ores ) and a minimal MINIMAL elevation makes the cart immovable using troll armor and first boss buff and running lvl 100
Other uses is a mid game chest in your base , because a cart is cheaper than iron chest and have same storage but is a little more bigger

1) Copper ore, since it's almost always near your base anyway.
2) Silver. Load your cart and then throw it down the cliff in the general direction of your boat.
3) As a portable / mobile chest, especially since you can take everything you need to build it through portals (unlike a reinforced chest, which takes iron). Also if your cart is destroyed the cargo will stay crated up, unlike a chest which spills its contents everywhere.
