Raids (after plains boss), where am i safe(est)?

I am moving at the moment to a new base, to be near the mistlands to explore, it is a very small island in the middle of the ocean, 2 workbenches cover the whole island, in the distance you can see mistlands and plains.

If a raid is happening, will i be safe?

If the "Gjall" raid is happening, will they or the one fly towards my base no matter what and i am dead then?

Should i build everything with black marble now?

when a raid is happening, can i just teleport to another base and spend a few days there until it is over at the other base?

When you come back the raid timer starts again.

Yes you can. It will stay suspended in your base until you get back and fight them or until other event happens in your other base.
So it might not be the best solution. But it can help you to prepare before you engage them.

Workbench/fire/torch/etc "spam" doesn't technically stop raids, but it does stop the monsters from those raids from spawning. If you're on an island, the bat raid can still happen, as flying creatures can apparently spawn over the water. I'm not sure about Gjalls, as my main base isn't in the ML. Only have small portal outposts there, usually in mine towers, previously owned Dvergr towers, or ruined towers.

But having an enclosed base on an island with no monster spawns that can only ever be invaded by bats is pretty sweet.

You have to remain in the event area until the timer is done, i believe it's 2 minutes. You do not necessarily have to engage with the raid during this time (especially if its a land based raid that wont actually successfully spawn at your island) you just have to be in the area (though this also means that if you do build under an instance like a dungeon, going inside the dungeon even though the dungeon itself is in the area, does not actually count as being in the event area). If it's a raid that can still spawn but they cant actually end up breaking much, like bats, then you might just be able to ignore the raid entirely from the safety of your base.

very nice, thanks for the answers.

i just got my first raid now while i was building:
"they sought you out"
i didnt see anything, it was night and i just went through the portal back to my plains base and then i slept and came back, the red circle was still on the map but still no monsters, then it just ended without any trouble.

If you are isolated by deep water you will be safe from most raids. As for flyers I cannot say for sure how they would react to your base since it is so isolated, but you can defend from them just like you would if your base was on a larger piece of continent.

From what you say it sounds like a pretty secure place (as long as the land is above the level of the storm surge).

My group defeated yagluth 3 weeks ago and we got only 2 mistlands raids (seekers). Most of the time we get bats event which is probably the easiest one you can get. We also got skeletons event, blobs event, trolls event and you are being hunted events. I want to say you won’t get only mistlands event so you don’t need to worry too much.
If you want the safe spot, an island is the best choice since mobs cannot spawn in water (except for the bats). So find an isolated island far away from big landmasses and spam it with workbenches to prevent spawns. Raids will happen, but enemies won’t spawn.

Don't you need to build at least a farming base in both Plains AND Mistlands to farm their 2 specific crops?

Safest is under indestructible area, like cutting out under the elder's shrine but you can also dig under instances (cave, crypt, etc).
Next safest is inside a ring of terrain wall. Flying stuff can still get in.
Next would be a moat (some mob can get over a moat, eg 2 lox one can fall in and the other walk over the first, this isnt smart AI but it happens by incident).

workbench and fire spam prevent spawns but not raids.
All that leads to ..

if you get a raid, you need a nearby but out of risk to your home combat area you can play in. Go there, fight the raid off, away from your home.

Gjall specifically will ruin everything. They are going to get at least 3-4 shots off and it will aoe damage a lot of stuff in the aoe. Gjall are easy to kill with the crossbow and shoot the red area -- from stealth if you can.

The meadows specifically is rigged to not allow some raids or something. I didn't follow all that in the patch notes. Being in the meadows is the safest base, if I understood that bit.

-> wards supposedly reduce damage done to their area affected items. I don't let my base take damage and have not tested it.

------
should you build in marble? If you want to. Wood is high risk if your base is not completely monster proofed. Stone and marble either one can take enough hits that you can avoid major problems but will have to repair it. A new crafting thing damages all but black marble, but you can dump it out in the woods or something.

I advise making the base more monster proof with raised terrain, and possibly, not bothering to do a full base in the mistlands. Just do a crude outpost and if it gets trashed, a quick fix to put it back together.
Try to be near some pulsing roots.
