Well, the raids aren't really something that requires stationary defenses anyway. The mobs come for the player, not your buildings. They'll only destroy your stuff if they can't get to you. Especially with the greydwarf raids that happen after the first boss, they really can't do any significant damage. Aside from that, they only happen if you're home, and still pretty rarely at that. I for one welcome the opportunity to train up my skills!

And yes, "The ground shakes..." is still a thing. Usually two trolls. I just kite them away from my house, so they don't wreck anything and kill my pigs. After two minutes one will despawn and then I kill the other.

Ah good. I haven't seen it yet on my new run but I did get the swamp one, so I wondered if they moved things around. The troll one was always really nice for making troll armor earlier because they'll just keep coming.

I have already been swamp raided and just stuck my head in there two times, not even close to starting to look for bonemass.

Yes, you will get necks and boars until you kill Eikthyr no matter where else you go.

Swamp raids start as soon as you kill The Elder. Always scout the next biome up before you kill a boss so you know what's coming after you next.

I just finished a nice place in the Meadows and have not killed Eikthyr yet. I did find the black forest though. So I was thinking I can go in get copper and tin, find some cores, make some better weapons and then go after Eikthyr. I am playing by myself. I can kill the first boss, I have done it before. I was just wondering if this plan of mine will work ?? Thanks for all the comments people.

No matter in which biome you are going, if you didn't killed a boss on the world, just Eikthyr is sending his army...

Have trolls smash copper nodes trying to get you. Really tedious, time consuming and seemingly quite pointless, just like rolling trees into birch to get fine wood early. I am 100% sure I could kill Eikthyr within 10 minutes of starting the game, and have basic bronze tools within 30 minutes. I could understand trying to skip the elder if that were possible because his power sucks, but I personally would never want to be without the Eikthyr power just to avoid a 2 minute invasion once in awhile.

the raids evolve as you clear the game, thus if you do not kill any bosses you will only get simple raids. Starting in another world with a vetted character has this advantage for building, if all you wanna do is build then you won't have trolls with trees coming to wreck your showhome without using dev commands. I personally build a moat around every home regardless though, i love me a good moat!
