There have been changes but I think you might find them negative overall. Armor reduces poison now which makes early swamp expeditions more viable, but there's a stagger system that negates parry and gets you one-shot if you don't have the right tier of HP foods. Unlocking those foods is now gated behind kitchen upgrades similar to those for other workbenches.

I've played more than 1000 ig days, geared at max with troll hide, fine bow, and flint weapons. A Draugr archer kills me with four arrows, and this seems pretty fair (cooked meat and honey).
