So my friend and I traveled to the Mistlands and the Deep North.

...is it possibly time to add a few people to the dev roster so those areas can be completed?

They both present quite a few concepts for new stuff to do and environmental conditions to contend with and enemies to fight and farm and defend from... but they're both completely empty.

I appreciate the recent update to make new things to augment bases, but most people have done all there is to do by now. The game needs more to make it really keep drawing people in.

Don't get me wrong; I'm willing to wait. But as it is, it's just a building game, and I don't think everyone is in it for that alone.

It's a natural tendency to want everything now, but sometimes you have to have patience. Find something else to take up your time for a while. Maybe it will be a happy Christmas of Valheim!

BTW, There are currently 5 biomes. The Mistland update will add 1 to that. I predict that, within a few days (maybe less) there will be people rushing through it who are disappointed that there isn't more.

You might be surprised, but I'm not in a rush, nor did I rush through the existing biomes. In fact, I have yet to beat the last of the biome bosses. About 90% of my time playing the game has been wandering, exploring, sailing and building. I find the game to be soothing and relaxing for a large amount of reasons; just existing in the world the devs created is very pleasant, and the sounds of the environment are very relaxing.

To put it simply, I enjoy the game as it is. But after recently visiting these empty yet highly interesting areas, I'm curious as to what they might be, and from the comments of others here, I see a lot of people talking about the game in the past tense; like they've moved on from it. I would hate to see this game get dropped or abandoned by players due to very slow development.

*Personally*, I can wait to see what comes next. But we all know that if the majority of players abandon the game, it's going to struggle to stay around. I just don't want to see a great game like this suddenly die out because of a lack of interest.

I absolutely don't want them to rush. This game is how it is because they're taking their time to do things and rooting out the problems beforehand. I want them to keep that up. But I think having more than 5 people working on it wouldn't kill it. For example, if each of those 5 are doing a specific aspect of the game, get each of them a helper.

My main concern is the seeming decline in interest a lot of people are showing. A lot of the threads here speak of the game in the past tense; like it's already dead with no reason to play it and no one having any interest in it anymore.

I feel this is a very bad thing for the game in general. And I admit I'm curious as to what's planned for the next area as well. That's all.

This is like someone is forcing you to read and comment, and I just don't understand it. The reason people are making these comments (I think; this is at least my reason) is they don't want to see the game die due to lack of substantial content, and because they're curious. It might seem like impatience, but for my part, I'm just concerned about the number of people I've been seeing referring to this game in the past tense, like it's already failed and been abandoned. That doesn't bode well for future development, which is going to depend on more money coming in from new players. People coming here and seeing everyone basically saying the game is already dead is gonna affect that negatively.

And yes, there's some impatience and curiosity as to what's going to come next.

I don't think they're gonna require a restart. The biome is already there; an update would just populate those areas, I would think.

I built several bases in the mistlands (just because), so I hope it doesn't change significantly, but I'm prepared for the possibility that it could.

Yes. I mentioned this when I said 'maybe it's time to bring on a few more people.' I guess you didn't read the post, just commented?

And? Yes, the game is early access. That doesn't mean it's meant to die in limbo from being developed too slowly. I'd like the game to live. How about you?

Yes, I've wandered around in the game a lot, both alone and with friends. I like building, so I appreciate the new stuff to build and alter my existing bases. Why does it matter how long I've been playing it?

Mistlands will be the next update. When is another question. Maybe they've worked on it while doing H&H, maybe they just started.

yeah the mistlands will be the next tier zone, should be interesting and from what i've read it sounds like they have been working on this as well as things related to user feedback this whole time, so they implemented the stuff based on feedback with hearth and home first. mistlands is next, but as for when its anywhere between now and the end of eternity.
