Raid events
On a seed I started for Mistlands I made a main base in the meadows with black forests being the only other biome on the island but I'm getting event raids from all biomes. Is this a bug or as intended?
Is there a work-around to prevent certain biome events? Bats killed my chickens. Fortified and raised the coop and then swamp oozes spawned under the coop and aoe killed the next batch. The coop floor was one vertical core wood pole high. Guess that's not high enough!
But why are oozes and bats raiding my meadows base when there's no swamp or mountain anywhere near?

Blobs will kill your tames through walls, and bats will kill them if they're not indoors.
Build a coop with a roof for your chickens and bats will ignore them. Build the coop well within your compound to be safe from blobs. I think 4 large stone walls will prevent blobs from jumping over.

Bats can potentially fly in through chimneys too, so keep that in mind when protecting your animals. I put my warming fire outside but next to my chicken coop.

Did they nerf the list? Shouldn't all boss raids also happen in any biome? These are the events that can happen in every biome including the meadows:
Trolls
Blobs & Oozers
Skeletons and Rancid Remains
Surtlings
Bats
Need to have a proper base design to protect yourself. The enemies will prioritize you so your best bet is to leave your base and fight them head on.

When you progress in the world it grows harder yes it is intended and since you beat the 3rd boss you will have those types of raids

Im guessing you have actually beaten the bosses on this world (have to clarify, some make two worlds where they beat the bosses on one and hang the heads on the other for the powers without bumping up the raid progression by actually beating bosses)?
If so, both the Bats and oozers/blobs raid events can start happening any time after you beat Bonemass, and last I checked Bats can happen in any biome while the oozers one happens in meadows, black forest, swamp and plains. Even if they aren't normally from that biome, the raid events can bring them there. (Edit: the bats event requires not just bonemass, ut for you to have killed a bat as well...a bit like the troll raid CAN happen after Elder, but only if you've also killed a troll).

id avoid killing abomination until youve got a relatively secure base since it appears in the wiki that killinga ♥♥♥ will have new spawns that include air units if im not mistaken

i don't recall abomination being one of those triggers, but there are a few critters that trigger their own raids (like trolls or bats) if you have progressed far enough and have killed one of them. Troll raid is the first big pain in the butt for many, because of the sheer reach of the troll normally (they can hit through earth walls, even if they cant pass them). Bats is the first flier group you can unlock in raids I believe though, and that's "kill a bat, and beat bonemass" for requirements. id avoid killing abomination until youve got a relatively secure base since it appears in the wiki that killinga ♥♥♥ will have new spawns that include air units if im not mistaken
Although it is worth mentioning that some progression advancements do in fact spawn critters in weird places. Like after you beat the Elder, before you even visited a swamp the first time, you can encounter Draugr in the meadows during foggy nights (they despawn at dawn, a lot of these are night spawns that disappear at dawn, like you can also get fulings spawning in meadows at night after you've beaten Yagluth as well).
