Forget the Road Map
Hey guys, do not worry about taking down your road map, you gave us a great game and I for one really enjoyed playing it but the truth is, I have moved on and I am sure others have also, so take your time and we will put the game on our watch lists until the next update.

this is why there are so many abandoned early access games on steam
Doubt it.. Dayz took nearly 8 years to develop. (during which a serious amount of time without any updates or dev communication) Majority of people moved on to play other games and dayz was declared dead several times, but the game always held a loyal fanbase that kept playing and sent feedback. It's always a minority in comparison, that will actively exchange feedback anyhow, mostly people that know what they're talking about and want to be serious about being an addition.
Anyway, going by the success of Valheim, this game being abandoned should be the very least of your worries.

This is one thing devs need to stop doing whether early access or AAA. Stop giving timelines for the babies to cry about. Deliver an amazing early access experience like this and simply trickle out the updates as they are able. This is a small team with overwhelming success and this game isn't going anywhere. Enjoy the 30-50 hours of gameplay for the paltry price of admission and move on until they issue some significant updates. Asserting this is like other early access that have been abandoned is just a troll's shortcut to thinking.
With overwhelming success they should be able to expand the team etc, etc. and not buy a horse. Stop being apologists.

Yeah well, all they did was start over from scratch and build a whole new game engine.
You may argue they used dayz to finance that build and to use that engine for future games, but at least they didn't abandone the game all together and today it's a pretty darn good survival game that offers pretty darn good performance.

This is pretty much my plan. I've gotten my money's worth and once they add a big update, I'll wander back and pick up where I left off.
Once you've gotten max upgraded best everything in the game (currently), 100% self sufficient base in the plains and have all the bosses on Farm mode there isn't much to do. It did take a few friends and I quite awhile to get to that point.

Completely agree. Never knew about nor cared about some road map. Played the game as it is, beat it and finished it (as defined by me, not a developer).
Was a hugely enjoyable experience and lasted far longer than most single player games out there. Excellent value for money. And have largely moved on as well (almost), but that's the nature of single player games: you buy them, play them, and eventually finish.
But I'm a bit old fashioned. I just play a game as it is, enjoy it for what it is, and ignore social media.

Or just move on and don't come back if you feel offended by update progress. It doesn't really matter in the end. They aren't charging any more money for the content they have planned for the final release. Don't let the door bump you on the way out.

Eh, it was smart firefighting and a solid display of talent from their community manager. Previous updates seemed a little distant and out of touch with player concerns, now they don't.

Agreed , prior statements seemed like they could have been the playful updates from the brainchild himself , while this most recent update seems strictly PR.

Really like the game the way it is. I can see adding more building options, but it kind of scares me that they are talking about changing the health, food and combat dynamic.
